Used it for years

I used Castrol conventional for decades without a problem but on my last direct injection engine vehicle, I ran into a serious problem. Even though the recommendation was to use conventional oil, the engine seized. It was replaced under warranty and I switched to synthetic oil. The lesson I learned was do not always trust manufacturer's recommendations but error on the side of caution.
