A: Synthetic oil can be mix with regular oil. Synthetic oil is the refine product of regular oil. And It's normal to top oil your engine with oil when you use Synthetic oil be this oil is lither and lubricate well the exhaust valve more easily and burn after that. This will be more seen if your car climb hills. Because the oil move near the exhaust valve.

Q: I just bought a Champion 3550W generator. It says in the manual to use 10W-30 in temperatures down to -7 but to use 5w-30 synthetic in ALL temperatures (which is: -20 to 100 F). Would your product be okay for my new generator??? thanks.

A: Hi. If your generator calls for a 5W-30 synthetic oil, EDGE 5W-30 Extended Performance should work fine for the application.

A: Castrol EDGE Extended Performance (ILSAC GF-5) 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 & 10W-30 oils meet the engine test requirement of the Chrysler MS-6395 specification and we stand behind the use of these oils where this specification is called for. The Chrysler MS-6395 specification is based upon the ILSAC GF-5 performance standard. This is the core of the performance demand for the specification. However, the Chrysler specification requires that a field test be conducted in Chrysler vehicles under their protocol before they will formally approve an oil. While Castrol does run field tests, we have not conducted the same for the Chrysler specification. For this reason, we cannot say we fully meet the specification.

Q: When I put in the vehicle I intend to put this oil in , a Nissan 2012 Frontier pick up truck, A canadian tire pop up says this products does not fit my vehicle. I then did a search for synthetic oil for my truck and it showed me other products??Thanks.

A: For a 2012 Nissan Frontier, according to Castrol’s Lubrication Recommendation Guide, it says API-licensed oil in the SAE 5W-30 grade is required for use in all temperatures therefore Castrol EDGE Extended Performance 5W-30 full synthetic oil is recommended for use in said vehicle. Castrol always recommends following the guidelines of the engine manufacturer for the recommended oil (i.e. SAE grade, API rating and manufacturer specifications) specific to your application. This information can always be found in the vehicle's owner’s manual or by contacting the manufacturer directly.

A: Castrol always recommends following the guidelines of the original engine manufacturer for the recommended grade and API specific to your application. This information can be found in the vehicles owner’s manual or by contacting the manufacturer directly. As per Castrol's lubrication guide, for a 2010 BMW X3 3.0L 6-cyl is 0W-30, 0W-40, 5W-30, or 5W-40 motor oil meeting BMW LongLife LL-01. Castrol EDGE Extended Performance does not meet the BMW LongLife LL-01 rating needed for your engine. It would not be recommended for use, even for top-off purposes. When topping off, you want to make sure you are using an oil in the same viscosity as the oil already in the engine. The following Castrol motor oils meet the requirements for a 2010 BMW X3: Castrol EDGE 0W-30 A3/B4, EDGE 5W-30 A3/B4, and EDGE 5W-40.
