CANVAS Gibsons 2-Drawer Bathroom Vanity, Grey, 30-in

This shows a new level of how low quality something can be. Inaccurate cuts the holes for the camlocks not deep enough, the camlocks are made of cheap aluminum that doesn’t stand up to twisting. The overall boring and routing is off by a lot. As a cabinet maker, I cannot imagine how some without a workshop and woodworking skills can assemble this.

I bought this a few days after Christmas, and took it home to start assembling immediatley. The very first piece I pulled out to put together had the screw holes offset from where they were supposed to be. So straight off the bat I was not doing too well. I decided to try my hand at drilling my own holes in, but that didn't work out. This was one of the drawers you can pull out, the bottom has a very thin piece of wood product (probably MDF) that fits exactly into a groove, my holes were better placed but not exact. So I couldn't get the floor of the drawer to slide in properly. I tried gently nudging it in, but the whole thing is made of pretty cheap compressed wood so that split and I was done at that point. I was able to assemble the other drawer, but it too had problems with its screw holes, they were non-existent! So once again, I drilled my own holes in, doing better than the first time but still not exactly exacting, so I had to get creative with fitting the floor of the drawer in. The quality control on this product is very much lacking! Additionally the unit is pretty big, but at the back where you would make your drain pipe tie in, there is a structural piece that is right at the height of standard drain pipe heights. My pipe was roughed in to about 18.5inches on centre, and thats about exactly what the rear structural piece is. In order for me to fit this unit in the pipe would have needed to be probably 22inches off the floor, and even with that I am not too sure. It would be helpful, if they posted dimensions to the backside, including the drawers. You have no way of knowing if its going to work in your house or not without this information! I don't know why this isn't already on their website. I also called the number provided, they were closed of course, but they mentioned a website to go to, it took a few searches on what I thought they said before I came across their website, they should publish that website on the manual, or spell it out in their message! I am grateful that Canadian Tire took this partially built unit back and refunded my money, I am just frustrated at all the trouble I went thru thinking I finally had a vanity for my newly renovated bathroom. The 1 star is an acknowledgement to Canadian Tire for standing by what they sell, I would give more stars for that, but really want to give this unit 0 stars. Its a total fail for me! Also, I was concerned about its heavy use of MDF and compressed would, especially in a bathroom, for a bathroom sink! For the money I paid, I expected at least some actual solid pieces of wood in there!

Very well made and sturdy. A more challenging assembly than some other products but the product quality is very high and hole and connector placement is very accurate.

Purchased from picture (no assembled units on display at C Tire - understandably as the assembly is very time consuming - even for an experienced carpenter). Solid surface top is good quality but cabinet itself is entirely MDF, not a single piece of real wood in it. Instructions should include photos instead of vague drawings. Not recommended for the novice.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] the 30in canvas Gibson grey vanity looks nice, the white stone top with the overlap so you don't spill everywhere is always a good touch to keep it clean and avoid water damage, the wood looks nice but the drawers are deceiving but good for a very organized person with slots looking like made for towels and toothbrushes and toothpaste the rack underneath for even more towels nice. would look good in a sauna or spa or something.
