Lately they keep cracking

This is my fourth Brita pitcher in 6 months. I'm not sure what happened compared to a few years ago, but they keep cracking. After the first one cracked (shortly after I bought it) I was super careful with the next one. Less than a month later, cracked. Bought another. Less than a month, another crack. I actually went without, and started drinking tap water, but still tastes too chlorin-y for me. Decided to get ANOTHER one (this is now over 100$). Took it home from the store to wash it, and it is cracked - brand new from the store. Their clearly inferior material means I am looking for another company. Don't buy Brita.

Q: What type of plastic is used in manufacturing this product? Is it safe at room temperatures? Will the plastic leach out of the container and into the water?

A: Thanks for asking this about our Denali Pitcher, Trevor. The reservoir and pitcher are made from polystyrene. The handle and lid are made from ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene). These materials don't contain any polycarbonate or any phthalates. All of our products are tested and certified by NSF International and/or WQA for both material safety and filtration performance. We advise hand-washing your pitcher, lid, and reservoir periodically with a mild detergent.
