Everything's good except one thing

When throwing the snow to the left the direction changes to center if I'm not holding the direction knob. Pretty annoying. It doesn't move from right to center. Just left goes to center. Used 4 times.

At least one or two shear bolts break every time I use it, even in light snow with no ice or rocks. Poor design, and a chronic problem with this model.

Snowblower Wheel Locking Pins for 3/4-wheel shafts

I am having an issue with the wheels...the wheel pins used to hold them in place keep snapping/breaking. I bought the specific replacement pins at Canadian Tire and they only lasted minutes.
Any idea why they keep snapping.

Works well but light & hand grips warmer don't work

My husband purchased this as we had 2 feet of snow in a week and kept snowing. We got tired of shoveling 2-3 times a day. Machine works well and as a 5'2" woman, I'm able to use it myself and easy to maneuver. However, the LED lights and hand grips warmer don't work. This snowblower has been out of stock for the last month and there's no point of exchanging when it's out of stock due to the high demand. I also emailed service@jd.com--whatever email this company has provided their email address to other customer reviews who are having issues--for assistance but I haven't heard back. Please respond to my email as I would like have the LED lights and hand grips warmer to work.

Q: I just bought Briggs & Stratton 1696828 306cc. The oil dipstick has no "Add - Full" fill line as per the manual p.13. It is totally blank. Please inform me where exactly I should be filling the oil to without guessing or is this a faulty dipstick?

A: I believe you have a faulty dipstick. Mine is 12 5/8" in length (not including the cap) and has 2 holes near the end to indicate full and low. The first hole is 3/8" from the end and the second 1 1/16". The dipstick is spring steel so drilling holes would be difficult. Suggest you mark it lightly with a grinder or stone. Cheers.

Q: How do I know if the hand grip warmer is working on this B&S snow blower? The light comes on but the grip is not warm to the touch.

A: My light turns on too but can't feel anything with gloves on and I sure aint gonna snowblow with my gloves off. Got one season out of the thing and it doesn't want to run right the second season either.

Q: Briggs and Stratton Elite 1532 Electrical box. There is a 230-volt plug attached to the starter box that cannot be removed, included in the purchase was a 120volt extension cord, connections do not match up, so why give me an incompatible extension cord.

A: Yes, the unit has six forward and two reverse speeds. Reversing is not very fast but even at speed level 1, this unit can run quite quickly for snow cutting. Speed can be further managed with the engine speed that has a slide lever to control the rpm's of the engine. Unit is quite large and cuts a significant path when moderate snow levels are experienced.

Q: What is the horsepower of the engine? It should be listed in the specifications. Engine displacement is not useful as a guide to the engine power.
