Bosch GWS13-50 10A Corded Angle Grinder with Auxiliary Handle, Guard & Flanges, 5-in

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this last year. I needed to cut through thick plaster. Purchased the dust collection shroud. Worked great! Barely any dust escaped, and it made clean cuts.

I bought the 13 amp version of this grinder for work and after 2 days of use it broke.. I dropped it from about waist level and then the locking mechanism for the wheel broke. making the grinder useless because I couldn't change disks anymore. I've used Walter and Dewalt grinders for years and have dropped those 100s of times and never once did any of them break so very disipointed that it broke after 1 fall from waist level being only 2 days old.

I wanted a grinder that had both power and a light weight; when you grind all day, you could use a powerful 7" grinder, since their main advantage is their power and the lifetime of a 7" wheel instead of a 5" or 4 1/2", but at 13 amps, with that weight, I'd take changing my wheels more often over having dead arms at the end of the day anytime! Plus, at 11 5oo rpms, it sure grinds faster than most 7" that, for safety reasons, won't really go over 7000. The grip is comfortable y sturdy, the guard is easily adjustable/removable if need be (use the guard when grinding; your fingers are your friends!), without the annoying hassle of having to tighten a screw every now and then. Before this grinder, I was used to rat tail triggers, but with time I chocked my grinder more and more, and this type of grinder body style grew on me. I've used it extensively for over a year, still going strong, and when my makita dies, I'll be sure to replace it with another GWS13-50, so I'll have two of them! All in all : - grinds/cuts fast - handles well (not too bulky for choking) - lightweight - nice guard (does not get in the way like say, the new milwaukee type of guard) - my father, who is prone to feeling vibration in cheap grinders/rotating tools and won't use one unless it's smooth, deems this one acceptable (I, personally, am not sensible to vibration in a tool too much, so I think it's great, but you get the idea, for anyone who wants to know) - great price (thera are cheaper ones, but for the quality, other companies would sell it double the price) Bosch, if you ever feel the need to change things up, improve on this one, but only if you can; don't throw the whole concept in the trash to make "something new"; "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", well, this one ain't broke at all!

This is the best grinder I could have purchased. Excellent quality. Easily handled. It has all the power that I was looking for. It will clean my large tools plus will be great for wood carving projects.
