Great Coffee, possible design issues with pot.

I received this as a gift two months ago and I love the Iced Coffee function. There in lies the problem however. I suspect there was some kind if issue with thermal shock causing the pot to crack. We handled the pot carefully enough so I don't think its anything I did but its always possible I am mistaken. Otherwise its a basic coffee maker and does its job great. No other comments.

The high ratings are misleading. You get what you pay for - it is not a terrible machine. However it runs SO HOT, just upon brewing it cooks down nearly a full cup of coffee! The hot plate too, will cook the coffee down to sludge. Also, the water runs into the basket so forcefully, that even 7 cups coarse grind gets exploded and overflowing.
If I had spent more than $50, I would have given 2 stars.
No, I do not recommend this product.

A: Not really. This unit is for making a carafe of coffee. You can probably make only 2 cups but it is designed as a carafe unit. There are different units that one can buy to make a single cup or carafe of coffee within one machine.
