Depends what you are looking for...

If you are looking to crush an avocado pit or ice cubes then this thing is not your friend. It vapor locks a lot and can't handle much. Would be fine for soups.

perfect for our needs

Haven't used the main blending jar yet as we've been using the single serve bottles for our daily smoothies. Much stronger blender than our last one, and so far we are very impressed. This machine suites our needs perfectly: fresh individual smoothies in 2 to-go (BPA-free) bottles with lids.

Don't Buy this if you want a smoothie!

I sat in the Canadian Tire aisle forever, using consumer reports to compare. Being the cheapskate I am, I opted for this one rather than the ninja or vitamex thinking "oh ya, just saved $400". Then I got home and tried to make a smoothie. That's when I thought "I'm going to write my first review about anything and tell all of Canada "Don't BUY THIS JUNK!"
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Can I blend hot liquid using this product - such as soup?

A: It is not recommended however, it you let hot liquids cool for approximately 5-8 minutes you can then blend it in the blender . Do not blend hot liquids in the travel jars.
