It worked great for 2 1/2 years then quit

I bought this on sale and enjoyed the happy blue light and quick boiling, and automatic off feature. Sadly, 2 1/2 years later we have to jiggle it on the base to get it to start. The light comes on briefly and then off. If we get it just right, we can get it to boil. It isn't just the light. We often can not get it to boil water anymore so we are looking for a new one.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Quiet boil, simple, the only issue that this NEW model has only one side where water level can be found unlike previous models where it could be viewed from both sides.

I wanted this one because it was corded and did not need its own base! But it stopped working within the year and so I wanted to exchange it for another one but they did not have a Betty Crocker so I bought the only other one without a base, Master Chef. I would by another Betty Crocker only because they do not have the corded base. I want a one piece kettle not a base and a kettle !!!!

I bought this kettle 6 months ago and one day, out of the blue.... it started leaking water because of a new random hole (corrosion?).

A: I have the exact same white model for over 3 years and I often forget to close the lid tightly and then it will not stop boiling, but if you can train yourself to ALWAYS fully close it TIGHT to enable the temperature gage to work, I find it still does turn off when it gets hot enough. That is my experience...and I do know I keep forgetting myself. I also now try to avoid turning it off myself. If I pick it up it often auto stops then as well. I suspect if air can get in and cool the place where the temperature gage is it reduces it's ability to detect the steam level.

A: The filters are not even necessary if once a month you pour 1-2 oz of bottled lemon juice in the water which is only a little over the element, as that is all that is necessary to clean it. That lemon juice nicely dissolves the scale that accumulates around the metal heating element. It might take 2-3 times boiling the same water mixture in a row and keep swishing the hot water around then pour it down the sink and wash it out with clear water. I don't bother with soap as I don't want that in my water that I drink from. Cleaning it improves the taste of the water, after. If it doesn't work fast enough just put in more lemon juice without removing the first amount. It is the acidity of the lemon juice that helps. I found vinegar does not work as well, but it should. A brush to loosen the scales could help but I have not needed one.

A: Pour retirer le filtre en vue de son remplacement et / ou de son nettoyage, faites simplement glisser le filtre anti-tartre vers le haut et hors des rainures du bec de la bouilloire. Pour replacer le filtre anti-tartre dans la bouilloire, faites-le glisser dans les 3 rainures du bec de la bouilloire. Il y a une encoche au bas du filtre anticalcaire qui s'insérera dans la rainure inférieure du bec. Il devrait y avoir un petit clic lorsque le filtre est placé dans la bonne position.

A: Page 9 of the user manual explains how to install and remove the scale-filter: To remove the filter for replacement and/or cleaning simply slide the scale-filter up and out of the grooves in the spout of the kettle. To place the scale-filter back into the kettle, slide the scale-filter into the 3 grooves in the spout of the kettle. There is a notch at the bottom of the scale-filter that will fit into the bottom groove on the spout. There should be a small clicking noise once the filter is seated in the correct position.
