Regarding performance: this lifter worked well. I liked the spring loaded pivot point that opened the grips when I released pressure. I very much liked the groove/rim that securely engaged the jar ring. I felt more confident the jar would not drop. This lifter DID NOT LAST. After 2 seasons the rubber jar gripper tore, as pictured. The 'rubber' jar grips also got soft and sticky in hot canning water
