    Impressive Quality !

I was drawn to this trickle charger as it has a low charge rate of only 750mA which I needed for a small motorcycle battery that has the recommendation of only be charged between 400 and 800mA (0.4~0.8 amps). All my other chargers can go no lower than 2 amps. The battery clamps, charging cord and charging unit head all have a solid, quality feel to them. The charging cord has an in-line fuse and a connector which allows you to swap out to something other than battery clamps (i.e. ring terminals) although no other connectors were included in the box. The charge controller plugs directly into a 120v outlet which eliminates an extra power cord. The controller is narrow enough that it won't occupy too much space in the outlet. Ultimately worth the price but if you can pick it up on sale you will be doubly-happy!

Thanks for the feedback. To your comment about no other connectors being included in the box, take a close look at the clamps. If you prefer to permanently connect to the battery, you can unscrew the eyelet terminals from the clamps and use them as eyelet connectors. Alternatively, if you require additional sets of eyelet connectors for other batteries, Canadian Tire sells MotoMaster 011-1948 which is compatible with the Battery Tender product.

Q: does it come with permanant connectors for the battery terminals to connect/disconnect from the charger or only the allegator connectors as shown ?

    • A: This charger is listed as not being waterproof, I wouldn't recommend mounting it in the engine bay, if your battery is in the cars interior like with many modern cars it shouldn't be an issue hardwiring it in close proximity to the battery, if your battery is in the engine bay, you just need to find a wire in the interior that's always live & you'll likely just splice it into that wire, so battery connectors become irrelevant.

Q: I have a 2017 Cadillac XTS (sedan) with a MOTOMASTER battery. Would this maintainer be a good fit to maintain the car working during winter months even when not in use for months?

    • A: The Battery Tender Jr is underpowered for your vehicle. The 3 amp is recommended.

    • A: Not sure. I just use it to trickle charge my motorcycle battery over the winter. It seems to work perfectly for this. I’m very satisfied with it

Q: I have a 12v Truck battery for use on a winch in my garage. Concerned about the winter as my garage gets pretty cold. Is this suitable to keep a 12v Diesel truck battery 900 CCA charged so it isn’t swollen in the spring?

    • A: Sure is suitable, I have three, motorcycle, lawn mower, and boat battery. I use them 24/7. You will be glad you have one, or more. Be smart!

Q: Will the Battery Tender Junior work with my 4Ah Valve Regulated Lead Acid battery? I have a 4Ah VRLA battery that I've been charging with a 1A-12V manual trickle charger. Am I okay still using that manual charger on the VRLA battery or should I consider the Battery Tender Junior?

    • A: BT Junior (750mAh) will work better on a 4Ah battery than a 1A charger. It will still charge it faster than recommended, but will not overcharge it. I'd consider a more appropriate charger for that battery, something 300-400mA .

Q: What is the major different between Tender Jr 0.75A and Tender Plus 1.25A. If I don't drive my car for a year, which one is better for my battery?

    3 Answers
    • A: Its higher current capacity will allow the BT Plus to bring a battery to full charge sooner. The other difference is Temperature Compensation. "TEMPERATURE COMPENSATION (BT PLUS Only): The output voltage is compensated at -3.5mV/ °C/Cell. This increases the output voltage in cold climates to keep the battery from being undercharged and, more importantly, reduces the voltage in high temperature climates to protect the battery from overcharge." But I doubt this is a critical difference. I keep a BT Plus on my sports car in the garage during the winter and a BT Jr. on my riding mower out in the shed, where it's colder, and both batteries are fine in the spring year after year.
