Strong chemical smell

Happy with the purchase.I had to stretch it a bit to fit a 2001 GMC Safari with a 15.5" steering wheel.Like the material and the look but it does give off a very strong chemical odour that gets on your hands too. Have only had it for a week and am hoping this smell dissipates.
