Q: On the underside of the lid on the Autotrends trash bin there is a removable piece; wondering what it’s purpose is?

A: This exact product is sold as a kitchen trash bin as well. The removable piece is advertised as a scraper to remove kitchen scraps/garbage from the counter into the bin.
