When filled properly this planter is very sturdy

I bought several of these the past summer and will buy more. They look very nice and were very sturdy. They stood up to several heavy summer storms. I would like a couple with a deeper planting area to see if I could over-winter perennials.

Great Planter Once Modified

Had to drill out the top to fill full of dirt. It's tippy and falls over otherwise... Was disappointed at first. Now they work good. The bottom is hollow with the top made to hold a pot insert. If you don't want to use a drill and knife to cut out the inside then this planter is no good. It will fall over with a gust of wind. For the money I would buy something different.

No, I do not recommend this product.

thanks for your review of the Athena planter. We recommend filling the unit up with water until it dribbles out of the overflow on the side. This way there is sufficient weight in the bottom of the planter.

Q: how do you fill the reservoir and more details on how the planter works

A: Hi Seasonal, Thanks for asking. The reservoir is filled as you water the planter from the top. The idea is to add water to the planter until the water starts dribbling out of the overflow hole on the outside of the planter; this way water will be closest to the soil and plant roots. Q: Can the top part be opened up so that the planter can be cleaned? If not, how do we clean the planter?

1 Answer

A: This planter is constructed in one piece for durability. To clean the upper portion of the planter, the soil and plant will need to be removed and then can be wiped down. Typically the water reservoir does not require cleaning however if you wish to do so the planter can be tipped on its side until all of the water empties out.

Q: (1) Is there an instruction manual? (2) Can I place potted plant (plant & pot together) in the top instead of planting the plant so that I can easily change plants?

A: Here are the following dimensions for this planter: Bottom outside – 10” Outside diameter – 15” Inside diameter – 13” Inside bottom is about 7.5” deep and bottom is 9 34” wide
