    Great Pool Starter Kit

Great kit for a pool newbie :) The instructions make it easy but the price per volume of the chemicals is on the expensive side. Once you know what you’re doing, buy the individual chemicals more in bulk sizing.

Q: Would this kit be the correct size for a 12 foot round inflatable pool, in order to last the summer like it suggests it would for a 'small pool'?

Q: I have an 18ft above ground pool, would this kit still be effective with the size of my pool?

    • A: Hi Kelly, this kit is a bit smal for a 18ft above ground pool, which should be about 30 000L. Technically, this kit should last about 2 weeks for your pool size. I would recommend the large maintenance kit, product code 0813902. Thank you

Q: Since this is stabilized chlorine, does that mean it will Raise CYA levels? At what point would my CYA become too high on a 10' 30" pool? Is there any way to decrease from adding chlorine daily to less often but more each time or is that not recommended?

    • A: I am not sure exactly. But, I’ve had these pools for years with no issues. I buy this kit to “open” the pool as there are instructions for that. To maintain chlorine levels I bought a bucket of the pucks as well as the floating duck dispenser. You can set the duck to disperse desired amount based on your pool size. I refill the duck with more chlorine pucks as needed. I use the test strips to test all else and add algaecide as needed. Few times I’ve gone away and came back to levels all over the place. Canadian tire sells packs of pool shock, one of those bad boys will get you back to where you need to be and then I just continue with my duck dispenser and chlorine pucks afterwards.

Q: Hi there -- I have an intex 10 ft round pool, 30 inch depth, 3854 litres at 80% full. I think this kit would be a good choice, but had hoped to use bromine rather than chlorine. Could I use bromine granules or tablets instead? If so, what kind? or what %?

    • A: Hi Jennifer, I would use the granules instead, that what the pool company recommends, and it works great for my 10 ft pool!!

Q: Do I still need to shock the pool? And, if so, is that separate, or I just extra chlorine that comes in this box?

    • A: Buy all components seperate you will end up needing more than kit. Use test strips. Fresh water in pool will not need to be shocked.

Q: Hello, I have a 10 x 3 ft pool and purchased this kit. Do I just add the chlorine directly into the water or do I need a chlorine dispenser? Thank you for your help.

    • A: Add it directly to water and stir it around.

Q: I have a 10 x 30 summer waves inflatable pool, anyone else using chlorine pucks, or just the chlorine stabilizer from the kit? and if you need ph down, what are you putting it in to circulate it in your pool?

    2 Answers
    • A: I used the chemicals that came with the pool/kit (not the pucks).  Everything went in the night before.  IF I needed to, I would add in the morning and have it circulate for a few hours before letting the kids in.  Hope this is helpful.

Q: I didn't get any instructions with my kit. Can you please let me know how to get instructions? Or provide detailed instructions on how to use. Thanks

    • A: I believe you need to base it on the amount of water you have in the pool. Ours is pretty small (10ft pool), so I really just did it by feel based on water clarity and I only used about half of it for the season. The test kits should help. Hope that helps.
