I wondered whether these were worth the price relative to much cheaper store-brand. The answer is yes. When deep-sanding an old picnic table for stain, one of these discs did 2 and a half boards before becoming worn while the cheaper red-brand discs lasted 1 board. Furthermore, the sanding was noticeably faster with the 3m discs.

Q: Can this sandpaper be used for automotive sanding?

A: Hi Norah, yes, these discs can be used for automotive finishing depending on the project. Often auto detailing/finishing requires a really fine grit. Here are the various grit sizes offered in these discs: Medium: 120-180 grit Fine: 220-240 grit. Super Fine: 320-360 grit Ultra-Fine: 400-500 grit Micro Fine: 600-1000 grit
