You’ll need a variety of lacrosse equipment to play on the field, including:

· Helmet

· Facemask

· Mouthguard

· Gloves

· Protection pads (arms, back, kidney, and shoulder)

· Lacrosse stick

Depending on the position you play, there are a few differences in the shaft and head of the stick and the pads and helmets that need to be worn. For attackers and midfielders, they prefer lightweight equipment and more protection so they can be agile on the field. Defensive players, on the other hand, require less padding but use a longer shaft and more durable heads. Goalies have specific gloves and protection that are worn to shield themselves from hard shots.

Although youth lacrosse uses similar equipment as adult lacrosse, such as cleats, a mouthguard, gloves, protective gear, a cup, and a stick, there are some differences between boys’ and girls’ lacrosse. While girls’ lacrosse requires eye protection but no helmet, boys’ lacrosse’ requires helmets with facemasks.

What kind of shoes do you wear to play lacrosse?

Lacrosse cleats or turf shoes are the best type of shoes to wear. Compared to soccer and football cleats, lacrosse cleats provide greater support for the ankles as they come in a high cut style. Turf shoes are ideal for artificial grass as they are made with small, rounded studs. They support the feet better than cleats and can be effective for skill training.
