What to look for when buying a lunch bag

When shopping for the perfect lunch bag, there are a few key things to keep in mind. First, consider the size. Do you bring snacks, a full meal or maybe even leftovers to work? Choose a bag that's large enough to fit everything you want to pack but not too big that it's awkward to carry. For most people, a medium-sized bag is ideal. If you pack a lot of little containers or want extra room for snacks and a drink, look for a larger size.

Next, think about insulation. An insulated lunch bag will keep your food cool for hours using a layer of thermal lining. Lunch cooler bags are specifically rated to keep contents cold or warm. You'll also want a lunch tote that's durable, leak-proof and easy to clean. Look for a high-density material like nylon, polyester or canvas and a water-resistant lining. Smooth interiors that wipe down easily are best. Some bags are even dishwasher safe, making cleanup a breeze.

Lastly, consider additional features like multiple compartments, a detachable shoulder strap, bottle holders or a built-in ice pack. Little touches like a mesh pocket for utensils, a bottle holder or a clip for keys can make a big difference in convenience and usability.
