Q: Is it for OLD WORK? I need to replace an existing box to a new one so I can install a ceiling fan.

A: Hi Sorry for the late reply,didn't see the email.works great but this is not for a ceiling fan, you need to attach the octagon box bottom flat against a 2 x 4(minimum) placed between the 2 ceiling joists.will never move and is the safe , proper way and never have to fix again.
