    Learning curve but worth it.

    The clamping force provided by the jaws is unmatched - they are designed to grab on to 3 sides of a hex nut or bolt, giving FAR more torque to the fastener. On round pipe they will contact in 3 or four places depending on the size, and again, FAR more grip! The release lever is a little interesting to get used to, but once you remember to NOT open the pliers up all the way when releasing the grip on a fastener it's a much better experience. Just have to remember this is NOT a new kind of slip joint, it's a whole new tool that will replace EVERY pair of slip joint pliers you have.

    Great pliers - old habits

    Full disclosure: I got these pliers from CT for testing. I really like them - quick release feature is nice - saves time guessing which groove to choose and doesn't slip off making stripped edges. Also makes nice tight fit grip. Also using quick-release knob it's possible to adjust them with one hand only (after short practice). I like it. The only reason I took one star off - old habits still force me to wide open pliers every time I adjust. But these pliers don't have that wide range - you adjust them using knob. So I guess I need to adjust my habbits now :) Will definitely recommend this product!

    This is a great set of pliers the quick release function works really well and you don't pinch your fingers. Long handle give you that extra torque you need.

    Best pliers for the job

    The shape of the jaws on these pliers are the key to their gripping power. They are not your conventional straight jaw channel locks, grips around what your trying to remove, not just two small "pressure" points. You also don't have to guess anymore what size to open the mouth to, open it wide and just slide up the handle to get the proper fit.

    • A: No, the widest opening for these is 2 1/2", maybe try the 10" pliers.
