Put some bang into your "Bangers"

Take your time and you will be rewarded. I was tired of the supermarket and butcher sausages ( bangers / snags) either being rubbery, lacking in flavour and in some cases simply over priced. When choosing casings/skins i found the natural (hog/beef/sheep) were a lot more work and harder to use. However the synthetic ones from the butcher were much easier. You can make the sausages as long or short as you like. I would recommend using a slower speed, makes it much more managable. Also make sure your mixture doesnt become too dry, and chilled meat will grind a lot better. A little oil on the tube also helps when putting skins on and taking off stuffer without damaging skin. Attach the extra tray attachment on top of hopper and you will be able to process more at a time without stopping. As with many things practise make sperfect. This is great for entertaining with bbq's , you can make a selections of different flavors and other ingredients to cater for dietry, allergy or vegan requests. Even hide some vegies from the kids.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Not an ideal addition to the mixer

I’ve loved using my kitchenaid mixer for a few years, and I decided to purchase the sausage kit. Grinding the meat seemed a little tedious, but the machine got the job done. Stuffing the casings is where the issue came in. As with other reviews, my main complaints are excessive air in the stuffer, and needing a second set of hands to manage the sausage as it grows from the end of the attachment. There seem to be two main design flaws: The hopper isnt’t big enough, and the plunger is not appropriately sized to push the meat mixture through smoothly. This accessory can eventually get the job done, but Not without a lot of frustration. if you want it done efficiently and easily, you should consider a purpose-built sausage stuffing device.

No, I do not recommend this product.

First time using and it broke

I bought this product less than a month ago and the first time trying to use the 5/8 sausage stuffer it broke I had to throw out whole deal with sausage before I even realized that the piece of crack and little Parts have gone into my sausage, don't get me wrong I love my KitchenAid and most of my attachments however this one was quite a disappointment to say the least on top of the cost of the food. And even though I have quite a few attachments I am very skeptical about buying the few more than I wanted due to this.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Don’t last

Works good but My first one developed a crack on the side by the metal housing that goes in machine after a couple of years of use I bought another and after 1.5 to 2 yrs this one cracked worse by the metal also but on top Not sure if plastics are not made good or what but I will probably be trying the steel one this time.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Needs improvement

We’ve used our grinder & stuffer 6 times now. It works but is very slow & you need to people to reduce frustration. Key issues for us were: 1. Need a grinding disk that grinds the bigger pieces more coarse (3/8’s is pretty standard for other machines). A coarse grind followed by the finer grind is recommended by sausage makers for best results. 2. Pushing the meat into the hopper is where the air gets in & causes problems. And is the reason you need 2 people. Seems like a larger hopper with a hinged lid plunger would help.

No, I do not recommend this product.
