Not for Toro

Be warned that this "universal key" does not work on a Toro 518 snow thrower. It inserts but refuses to engage all the way. Instead it springs back about 1/4". This prevents starting the engine. You will be better off getting the OEM key from a authorized Toro dealer.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I had written a review but was refused because I mentioned I had to buy a product elsewhere. So I will try it this way. This is not really a universal set. It is one fitment. Other retailers offer key sets that have various fitments. Ensure you research your model and maybe find pictures of what your key should look like and compare.

Q: Does this work w Tecumseh snowblowers (believe purchased at CT)?

  • A: I tried it in a Sears Craftsman blower with a Briggs & Stratton engine and it didn’t fit. I can’t help with regard to the Tecumseh application.

Q: Will it work with a Mastercraft 29” snowblower CD50001?

  • A: Thank you for your question. This key fits current OHV snow thrower engines. Your Mastercraft 29" model was powered by a legacy Tecumseh Snow King engine and will require key #740077. Search for that part number online or visit your local small engine service shop.
