Q: Does this model provide password protection? We very much like this feature on the TomTom XL model that we have. Beside the TomTom XL, we have a previous TomTom model that also has the password protection feature. This is an important security feature should the device fall into the wrong hands.
12 years agoA: Both answers above are incorrect. Older models of TomTom (I have two of them) had this feature. Newer models, such as this one, do not. I have checked with TomTom Customer Service - spoke with an associate named Taylor in Mexico at 866-486-6866 - who confirmed that there is no password protection. I am returning the TomTom device to the store because, like you, I am very security conscious and do not wish the information stored on the device to be easily available if it falls into the wrong hands. I very much like TomTom GPS devices, but will not buy any until they put password protection on them.

Q: Charging New GPS wont charge, no green light. I checked the connections everything looks fine. Left it in for two hours, and nothing, it wont turn on. I have it plugged into another computer this morning and nothing, am I missing something??
10 years agoA: Did you try holding down the "on" button? Mine can take up to 30 seconds but it always starts up.
