Q: How long is the cord?

  • A: If I recall correctly it’s about 6-8 feet long. I put one on a 2018 Silverado with the 6 litre engine and there was plenty of cord to secure it and leave the plug on the outside of the hood.

Q: Would this product work on my oil pan? I have a 2007 Toyota Yaris Hatchback LE. I don't know if my oil pan is steel or aluminum. Which product would be better: Polar Pad or Zero Start Super Heat Magnet? I'm in Ottawa and it can get to minus 30 degrees out.

  • A: I have a Polar Pad installed on my Mazda Tribute. It has been sticking for over 2 years so far. Seems to be doing a good job. Worked so good I put one on my garden tractor so it would start in winter. I find them expensive but they are worth it. I tried a heat magnet but I found it didn't transfer heat as good and it moved around and does not stick to aluminum.

Q: Can i plug it in 24/7? I mean my car is running once or twice a week only. Can i leave it plug in anytime im not using the car?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, We do not recommend leaving it plugged in 24/7 as it needs a cooling load for proper functionality. Please only plug it in when you plan on using it. Thanks!

Q: I want to install this pad heater to my 2018 Hyundai Elantra. Can anyone tell me if it will work perfectly on my car?

  • A: Product number 030-0001 is a universal item meant to fit multiple applications. Please ensure the surface is cleaned and prepped before installation and the silicone pad is fitted on a flat spot of the oil pan. There must be no gaps between the pad and the oil pan. Please follow the directions provided. If you are not comfortable with the installation, please feel free to visit our service department where a professional can perform the installation for you. Additional cost may be involved.

Q: What is the maximum temperature that the thermostat will allow the oil to heat?

1 Answer
  • A: We used to have some with thermostats in them but stopped offering them a few years. Our current offering is designed to warm the oil but will not burn it. Therefore we have the wattage and volume chart in our catalog and on the instructions, we put in the packages we ship to Canadian Tire to let the customer know the safe wattage for their application. This chart gives you the correct wattage based on the amount of fluid being warmed. The actual temperature the pad reaches will be will depend on the ambient temperature. These pads will warm the fluid to a higher temperature at 0 degrees Celsius than at -40.

Q: Can I install this pad on the engine?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, thank you for your question. This pad heater is meant to be attached to the underside of your vehicles oil pan using the supplied silicone adhesive. Attaching the unit to the bottom of your oil pan ensures that the oil remains at an optimal temperature for starting.

Q: How long does this need to be plugged in? I am concerned that this will overheat the oil in the immediate vicinity if left pluged in for too long

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, thank you for your question. You may leave the pad heater plugged in with no concerns about overheating. The pads have a built in thermostat which allows them to reach a safe operating temperature and maintain it while plugged in.
