First try did not go well

The first time I tried this product I got the milky spray as others had. I stopped spraying when I first noticed it and thankfully it eventually cleared away. I had not sprayed much of the paint so it was a very thin coat. I was not impressed and thought the paint was terrible and that for me to use it I had to spray very thin coats. The second time I used the spray can was a much better experience. There was no milky spray and it came out like other spray paints I have used. Why the different results? 1. Maybe it was more humid the first time I tried it 2. Maybe I did not shake the can enough 3. Maybe the spray can has too much propellant initially so the first sprays are milky but as the propellant is used up more of the paint is sprayed out like other spray paints I am suspecting the third point as I also got a gloss white and the first coats out of the can were very thin, barely covered my parts and produced a few fish eyes. I am hoping successive usage will be much better.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great gloss - just use it right!

I've used this clear on two different projects, and have had great results on both. Others have complained of it going milky and yellowing - I don't buy it. After a couple of years, there is no change in the gloss than from when I first applied it. The nozzle is a great design - a little different than your regular white cap, and is less fatiguing. The spray itself is well-controlled and more concentrated than regular Tremclad-like cans. For this reason, make sure you move the can at a good pace to avoid runs. This smaller cone is great for slimmer parts like bike frames, etc. With a couple of light coats a minute or two apart, very little wet sanding is required for a great finish. It's also great value!

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Krylon Milky White

This is not a clear coat and should not be sold as one. I sprayed one coat on my part and it turned the already semi-gloss milky white and opaque. I would NOT recommend and will be returning it to the store.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    VERY yellowing

I sprayed this over a design painted on a white surface. Turned the white surface a definite yellowy cream color as well as the sheet I had under it. The spray itself is yellow colored- not crystal clear as advertised.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Will this be good for a goalie mask?

    1 Answer
    • A: Hello. This could be used on the outside of the mask, I would not recommend it on the inside where it would be in constant contact with the skin. Please do a test area first to ensure satisfactory results. Regards, Krylon Customer Support

Q: Will this work for an acrylic painting?

    1 Answer
    • A: The Krylon Colormaster should work well on cured acrylic but we ALWAYS SUGGEST that it be tested first (the label suggests testing too). This is to be sure as the Colormaster clear is a lacquer. Acrylic paint can be water or oil so it is always best to test and also read the acrylic paint label to see what clear coat or if they suggest a clear coat at all. We also carry Krylon Art Clear Gloss (product # 048-2114), which could also be suitable for this project.

Q: Ok for interior plastic hanging baskets? Have a hanging basket, clean it yearly, would this 'revive' the gloss?

    1 Answer
    • A: The customer should wipe down with mineral spirits and then scuff the surface lightly to dull/abrade surface for better adhesion. Always test first in an inconspicuous area. If they like the way it looks, colour, sheen etc.. proceed with the project.

Q: Would this be suitabe for protecting an exterior mural?

    1 Answer
    • A: Without knowing what type of paint on the mural, we are unable to determine if the crystal clear will go over it or not.

Q: Would this be good for a Xbox Controller? I was considering painting my xbox controller and wondering if this would be the best choice of paint. On a side note is this safe for use in your living room or outside

    1 Answer
    • A: It will stick to plastic and should be used in a well ventilated area. We recommend that you remove the cases of any electrical equipment before painting them as the paint is in a liquid form when sprayed.

Q: is it aquarium safe for fish to use on 3d backgrounds im making 3d backgrounds for aquariums and the fution is aquarium but what about the artlic clear

    1 Answer
    • A: We do not have any coatings designed for underwater in a tank. If the back drop is outside behind the tank and the plastic is hard then they can use Krylon Fusion (48-1525x).
