Non intuitive use + a tweak = success

I wrote this review in response to Angry Dad who found it difficult to reassemble the clamp taken apart by a child. Mine was taken apart by my own curiosity. The spring also popped out of the fixed end of the clamp. After an hour or so of fiddling and trying to search for documentation (none found), desperation found this solution.
I feared the side pf the fixed end was clipped on and I would break it while trying to remove it. I used a sharp pry bar to prise off the side, held on only by four smooth lugs. It came off easily.
After figuring out where the spring went, I used long tweezers to replace it. The brake just slid between the spring and the housing. Now that I could see the inside, I wiggled the fixed end over the bar and replaced the cover.
Tip 1: the end of the bar beyond the fixed end has a hole. Put a bolt or pin in the.
Tip 2: slide the fixed end to the end of the bar, against the bolt/pin you just inserted. Then adjust the trigger end toward it. The problem I was having with the fixed end anywhere else along the bar was it didn’t stay in place under pressure. Now it stays put and I have full clamping strength. Happy happy.

Works well, keep them dry after use, hit them with rust check a couple of times a year.

Used it to hold a wooden kitchen drawer front together while the glue set as I repaired it. Worked great. I won’t use it very often, but when I need it, I can’t do without it.

R : Press the lever on the stationary jaw (the one without the handle). Move the movable jaw (the one with the handle) to the end of the bar with the jaw having away from the bar. Replace the stationary jaw with the jaw having away from the bar.
