yardworks 24 " snowblower

Awful machine, 2020 purchase every single winter it never goes, check it before season starts no problem. When you need it, don't count on it. Very unreliable. Previous craftsman, lasted 20 years, never failed us so disappointed never again.Brand new never got a chance to use it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Broke 3 plows

Bought this at Canadian Tire and I had used it for 3 plows for my driveway. Tire fell off and stoped working. Now 3 snow storms later they are still waiting on parts. I would not recommend YARD WORKS snow blowers to anyone. It is not built solid and will cost you more in maintaining it then shoveling will and any medical bills you may get. Manager was nice enough to tell me it was not covered for the broken cotter pin, which led to other things breaking, but they would cover the costs this time. The Machine is brand new and not a scratch on it, so that is one good mark for the store in covering a defective product. Well I hope this helps anyone looking for a snow.blower. I am still waiting on it being fixed. I tried calling the manufacturing company and they will be closed for the holidays. Buyers beware of this product. Recommended to manager to not carry products as they can make the store look bad. Hope this helps with anyone buying any Yard Works products.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for reaching out. We fear you may have posted this review against the wrong model as this snow thrower does not use cotter pins to fasten the wheels but rather secure hex-head cap screws. Please contact Yardworks customer service at 1-866-523-5218 and one of their representatives can assist. Thank your for your feeback.

A bad purchase

I bought mine in 2020 and i regret my purchase. Every year i have to bring it to a repair shop for maintenance it will not start from season to season. even the repair man confirm that it is mechanically inferior to other company such as Toro, Aryens etc.. so far with the amount of money spent at the repair shop i could've bought a better one.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for your note Simon and for highlighting the need to use fresh fuel to avoid starting issues with any snow thrower, especially after storage. Since it’s difficult to remove all the fuel from an engine at the end of the season we recommend as best practice the following steps: Fill the unit with fresh high-octane ethanol-free gas and add a quality fuel stabilizer such as Sta-Bil available at Canadian Tire. Run the engine for several minutes so the stabilizer penetrates the entire fuel system. Put the machine away full of stabilized fuel so it’s ready for action the next fall.

excellent so far

early try out, only used it 3 times, so far excellent, easy to start and use. like the tread and be sure to adjust the ski guide height as required ( used on gravel road and driveway ).

Yes, I recommend this product.

Disappointing Purchase … Waste of money and time…

We bought this on sale in the Fall. We have used it all of 2 times this winter and it’s crapped out! It starts, but not without protest … it’s still propelling forward, however, it won’t throw the snow anymore! We’ve looked at it, read the manual, ensured everything is as the manual says it should be … but no luck. So disappointed we are back to hiring people to clear our driveway. We can’t do it ourselves due to injuries… The warranty does not cover sending to repair shop. This is just wild! We are besides ourselves. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste time and money in this…

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: I bought this last year, wont start this year! What are the problems after taking to a small engine mechanic?? Figure there’s a block between the gas and carb

2 Answers
  • A: Thank you for your question. Engine starting difficulties after off-season storage are often the result of stale fuel in the gas tank and carburetor. Untreated gas can cause gum/varnish buildup in the fuel system in as little as 30 days, preventing it from getting to the cylinder. Start with a fresh tank of high-octane ethanol-free fuel using a quality stabilizer like STA-BIL® or StarTron®. If the unit fails to start after off-season storage it may require a carburetor cleaning, contact us at 1-800-668-1238 or use the authorized service dealer locator at www.mtdparts.ca for assistance.

Q: 24 inch yardworks snow blower. How often do you need to change the oil?

2 Answers
  • A: Thank you for your question. The manufacturer recommends changing the "break-in" oil after the first 5 hours of operation, and then every season or 50 hours of use thereafter.

Q: Does the   Yardworks 208cc 2-Stage Snowblower, 24-in come with a block heater?

2 Answers
  • A: Block Heaters are usually found in Vehicles. Had Snowblowers for 50 years. Most now come with Electric Start as a Back-up for extremely Cold Weather options if it won’t start by the cord or if Health Issues prevented ne from manually starting it. But a Block heater in a Snowmobile-No such thing as far as I know. Makes little sense for such an implement.

Q: Does this come in a box? If so, what are the box dimensions?

2 Answers
  • A: I find this depends on your local Canadian Tire store. My Canadian Tire pre-assembles all of their snowblowers, so when I bought mine it was ready to go. They even put in some gasoline so they could drive it up a set of ramps into the back of my truck. I know somebody who works in my local CT garage (vehicle) and they do the assembly for the store. From what I'm told it's not difficult at all, so if you do get it in a crate you shouldn't have any problems.
