    Burned geranium leaves

I have used other bug sprays with success on my geraniums and black eyed Susans. However, this spray burned the leaves on my plants, although I applied it in the evening. There would have been less damage to my plants if I had let the bugs eat a few leaves.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Hello Nadine,
While we do recommend on that label that when it comes to certain plants you need to apply to several leaves as a pretest, it is a mild insecticidal soap. You can reach out to us at www.wilsoncontrol.com and we can help troubleshoot the problem for you.

    Great Product

Every spring my plants get decimated by some sort of bug that I have not been able to figure out what they were or a product that stopped them. I found this and thought I would give it a try as it was on sale and has done the trick and it stopped whatever was eating the leaves of the plants. Sprayed in a dry spell and a couple weeks later did another spray and so far no issues and my plants all look healthy and are growing well.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Fast and effective

This is my favourite product to use on indoor plants for spider mites and fungus gnats, kills everything in only 2 applications (1 week apart). It does tend to burn more tender leaves a bit (like maiden hair ferns for example), but it’s a small price to pay for such an easy and efficient job, the plants always bounce back afterwards and you can rinse the spray off after 24hrs to reduce leaf damage if you want. this is THE best treatment for spider mites and fungus gnats!!!

    Evil stuff

Since i cannot respond to the Wilson rep, yes of course i did all of that, followed to T, tried on some lower younger leaves, i'm not new to horticulture, and it seemed fine a day after, but the burning showed days after, used fine spray everything, this stuff is a plant killer, way too strong, unnecessarily so, do yourselves a favor and try a more trusted brand like safers or scotts, this is stuff is evil in a bottle. If all the others works on the same plants without burning then it has to be Wilson's product not the users

    Terrible

Burned my plants, killed most of my plants, the others were too stressed, so i pulled them too, this stuff is a heatbreaker, way too strong, probably best for trees and bushes, but keep away from thin leaved veggies... safers soap worked best for me, i could speay every day and zero burn or stress.

    Hello Pedalninja,
It is recommended on the label to adjust the nozzle to a fine spray when applying to delicate plants. Perhaps you had used the stronger spray. Also, it is also recommended on the label that you do a pretest on a few leaves of any delicate plant and to allow sufficient time to determine if there could be any potential damage before spraying the entire plant. We also advise against using on open blooms.

    Questions

    1 - 7 of 7 Questions

Q: Does it work for snowbug?

    1 Answer
    • Wilson Consumer Service

A: Hello Bijaya, thank you for your question. Do you mean Sowbug? If so, then we would not recommend using Wilson Bug X for control. As Sowbugs feed mostly on decaying matter under leaves in the garden they are not easily controlled by contact spray. You should start by reducing these pests by eliminating garden debris, leaf piles, fallen fruit and weeds from all growing areas. Use coarse mulches to let water pass through quickly so the surface next to plants will dry faster and not be a good environment for the Sowbug to live. You could try Green Earth Slug and Bug killer dust which contains Diatomaceous earth as well. Thank you

    • A: Hello Wendall, We do not list thrips on our BUG X label so cannot recommend using it for that purpose. However we can recommend using our GREEN EARTH®BIO-MIST®INSECT KILLER Canadian Tire sku 059-3701 Thank you

Q: Will BUG-X control insects on lawns?

    1 Answer
    • A: Hello Carol13. No, we don't recommend using BUG-X on your lawn to control insects. Depending on what the insect is, we offer different forms of Green Earth nematodes that will control Grubs, Chinch Bugs, Leather Jackets and Ants. Q: Does this product eliminate tent caterpillars?

    1 Answer
    • A: Wilson Bug-X Ready-to-Use Insecticidal Soap has not been registered for controlling Caterpillars. Better choices for controlling them would be Wilson Ambush Tree & Garden Insect Killer Concentate (059-3740-2), or Green Earth Bio-Mist Insect Killer Concentrate (059-3701-6), both contain pyrethroids, that have been found to be very effective in controlling leaf feeding caterpillars.

Q: Does Wilson Bug X Pest Control Spray work on Japanese Beatles? If not, could you recommend something else?

    1 Answer
    • A: Wilson Bug-X Insecticidal Soap will kill insect on contact. Regrettably it does not have any residual action and therefore would be relatively ineffective against Japanese Beetles. A more effective control would be using a Japanese Beetle trap to catch the adults before they mate. Long term, the best way to control these destructive insects is to control the larval stage; the white grub. Not only does the adult beetle feed heavily on your ornamentals and roses, but when they are a white grub they can quickly wipe out a lawn. Treating with Green Earth Grub Buster Nematodes (59-3748-6) starting in late July through early August, will elimnate a larger percentage of the population. A repeat treatment in September through mid October, will ensure you do not have any larvae in your lawn next year, and therefore will reduce the population of the Japanese Beetles that emerge.

Q: does this work on box elder flys? If sprayed around the perimeter of a house, will it control box elder fly infestations.

    1 Answer
    • A: At this time we do not have a domesticlly registered product for controlling Box Elder Bugs. The easiest way to control them is to hose down the side of the building they are sunning themselves on, sweep or rake them up and drop them into a bucket of Soapywater for a few minutes.
