Perfect Minimalist EDC

For some reason CT is clearing this out at less than 1/2 of the retail price.....unbelievable! This is a great minimalist edc pocket knife. I have other SAK but this one is one of the lightest and imho (after carrying a variety of knives for 50 years) one of the most functional and practical without all of the extra fluff. I grabbed a few at this price as they'll make great gifts and I'll keep a couple of extra ones around for myself.

Worth its weight in gold

I own several Swiss Army Knives. I bought this one about 7 years ago and have it on me all day, every day. It comes in handy all the time. Very well made. Very sharp. The steel isn't extremely hard but that makes it easier to re-sharpen. The "econoline" matte finish nylon scales and painted insignia (vs. steel inlay) are a bit disappointing but wear well. Haven't seen them on sale for the past couple of years but even at full price they are a great deal. Truly a must-have.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great EDC

This is the "Recruit" model, very basic but useful and functional none the less. This is an EDC (everyday carry) knife that I actually carry everyday. I have it on my car key ring and is not obtrusive, certainly not intimidating at any level. BTW, there is a misprint on the specs for this knife, there is no philips screwdriver.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Money well spent

I bought this knife 4 or 5 years ago for a handy blade in my tool box. Here's the story. Around 2 years ago my kitchen can opener died. For two years now I've been using the can opener on this knife to open all my cans. I've gotten pretty quick with it and never did bother to buy another proper can opener. Anyway, there's not a thing wrong with it. Two years opening cans! Nothing loose at all. No rust either and it finds itself in with the dishes all the time. The stainless steel blade stays sharp too. Swiss Army has always used very good steel. I just oiled it tonight and all the functions still snap open and shut just like it did when new. That's my experience with this knife. Everyone needs a small fine quality folder and this simple knife fits the bill. Light convenient tough and well priced. 5 stars for sure.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Perfect small knife with SA's amazing can opener!

Just a great little knife. It's a little smaller and lighter than the standard size so the can opener, bottle opener, and blades are a little smaller than average. Toothpick and tweezers are "full" size. What I love about this knife, other than the compact size and the fact that it has no superfluous tools for every day use, is that the plastic side panels are just a little less slippery than my old Spartan's were. It's a nice touch that I wasn't expecting when I opened the box. Would I recommend this? To someone who wanted a minimal yet high quality and highly functional knife that could fit comfortably on a keychain or loose in the pocket, definitely. Swiss Army knives are quality and a good choice for those who don't really often need the pliers and whatnot of Leathermans (which Canadian Tire also carries) and other multitools.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Fishing Is this knife able to gut fish efficiently? Please Respond. ASAP

  • A: A bit small but probably OK for gutting but not for filliting. Keep it sharp. I would suggest sharpening on a japanese water stone or diamond sharpener. Might not be sharp eneough out of the box for gutting fish?
