There are better options for the same amount

I bought this about a month ago, and it needs some additional anchors to keep the rack from moving sideways. It doesn't really stay steady, and with a little bit of weight it'll start going left or right. Its the first time I've bought a bike rack so I've learned from my mistake. Try to get one with additional anchors.

It Needs additional anchors. It's not sturdy enough. Could be cheaper and better as well. Poor design.

At least it's got a rear reflector for visibility.

Bought this on Friday. Did 180km during the weekend with a 14lbs bag on it, on a mixed gravel/tarmac road. At the end of the trip, I had lost an adjusting screw, tightened the quick release 3 time, and had to change my position while riding the bike because I'd hit my thighs on the clamp. Was really saggy even when I had put much effort to make it not. Dont buy this thing. Theres a lot of things you could've buy instead.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Gosh! What a horrible rack.

I keep on punishing myself, and buying Canadian tire products. I know, I know. . I should know better. . cheap goods, is cheap goods. And this rack, is cheap. So badly designed. The platform is "friction held", onto the rack post, by two screws. "Friction Held" I tightened them, being careful not to let them slip. Within 20k of riding, with a 5lb backpack strapped to it, they both stripped. Gosh, I'm a sucker. Please, please don't buy this. No matter how appealing the price is. It's from Canadian Tire! Remember that!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: How do you attach the cord tethers? The cord tethers look handy but I can't seem to figure out a proper way for it to go onto the rack. There are no instructions for this step. Pls provide a photo or link. Thank you.

  • A: I just wrapped the bungie cord across the bottom and the top of the carrier, criss-crossing as I go. It's very secure and looks good.

Q: Can this be used in addition to the same brand bike fenders?

3 Answers
  • A: On my bike, with the rear carrier attached, there is not enough room on the seat post to attach any other accessories. My seat is already raised as high as I dare, so unfortunately for me I cannot use a bike fender that also attaches to the seat post.

Q: Panniers Will this rack support and secure pannier bags?

2 Answers
  • A: If by panniers you mean the side bags that attach to a normal bike rack, then yes, it can support them. However, as this is a design that does not include side braces, it would not be practical. That is the purpose of side braces, to properly secure the panniers to the rack, and at the same time keep the panniers away from the wheel so they do not get caught and tangled in the spokes. The real question is, how are you going to secure them properly with this type of rack? The simple answer is, you can't. This is merely designed for small loads that are not very cumbersome, such as a lunch bag, a jacket, or even a small day bag or book bag. This enables the rider to ride free of carrying anything on her/his back. For actual panniers like in cyclotouring for example, I recommend getting regular bike racks with side braces that attach permanently to the bike and allow for proper and secure fit of the panniers bags. I hope this was useful.

Q: Hi There, could I attach side backs or paniers to this rack? Thx

1 Answer
  • A: This style of rack is not compatible with panniers, since it does not have sides to support the bag. Using a rack like this with panniers could result in the pannier bag becoming tangled in the wheels. A rack top bag or basket would be compatible with this rack.
