Questions

Q: Features: reads 0-50 ft/lbs. but close up on picture show the reading go well past 50 (looks like close to 150 ft/lbs.). Which is it?

  • A: It reads both metric and foot pounds, and goes to 150 lbs. I would never think of taking it to that load, as I like it for these small 3 and 4 cylinder motors. Use a 1/2 inch for the heavy torque and keep this one for up to say 60 lbs. The 3/8 sockets can only stand so much and will break unless higher end priced ones. So I would own both sizes wrenches and for the price they are worth it.

Q: Is this mislabeled - it says 1-50 ft lbs which would mean a 3/8", not 3/4"

  • A: It is a 3/8th socket end wrench. It reads 150 lbs but I would not even try for that high. A 1/2 inch torque would be better for big torque.

Q: Can it be used in both directions? I need this for a clutch on a saw that’s counterclockwise.

  • A: Manual torque wrenches like this can be used in both directions. That's why the scale goes both left and right. But CT's answer is correct in that there is no "click off" at your setting, you have to watch carefully to ensure you have hit the desired value on the scale. I use a bit of electrical tape to mark my target to make it easier to tell when I'm there.

Q: is this wrench good enough to tighten a bolt up to 200 inch pounds

1 Answer
  • A: 50 ft – lb x 12 = 600 in – lb Therefore the answer is YES, enough for 200 inch pounds
