    Perfect for Rice and Quiona

I use this everyday to make rice and quinoa. It keeps the rice warm for the full day if I make it in the morning it will still be warm when I get home after work.

    Perfect Rice Every Time

I purchased this rice cooker after years of using an authentic Japanese one. I was uncertain that it would have the same quality, or produce the quality of rice that our family was used to. I have to say that it works great! It is quick, easy and produces perfect rice every time. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Love the cord winder

I bought this last year to replace an ancient rice cooker. In many ways it is much better and in one particular way not as good depending on how you look at it. The unit itself is solid and doesn't feel cheap. The high price does reflect the quality; you actually do get what you pay for. That said, they do go on sale for about $30 less - so watch those flyers. It cooks rice and does it reasonably well. I've made brown and white rice. As long as you have the ratios correct, it produces perfect rice. The keep warm feature is much improved from my last unit. You still get crispies at the bottom of the pot, but they're the kinder gentler crispies. It also comes with a steamer basket that you use to steam veggies at the same time as the rice. I have not used it for this purpose but can see that it'd be a handy thing to have if you like steamed vegetables. But the best thing about it is actually the cord. It retracts into the body of the rice cooker. Having dangling cords or poor cord keepers are one of my biggest pet peeves of appliances. This appliance wins lots of Brownie points for nifty cord handling. Steam collection is another useful feature. My old unit would just bubble a mess all over the counter. This unit collects the evaporation on the lid itself in a depression under the handle. When you lift the lid, the water runs off it into a small plastic removable container bellow the hinge. This is better than a mess on the counter, but I don't like cleaning the little container or the hinge. So I just use a cloth to carefully wipe the hollow before I open the cooker. Which brings us to the one love/hate issue I have with it - cleaning. On one hand every part of the lid comes apart for a thorough cleaning. The steam hole, the metal plate, the rubber gaskets, etc. all come off. This is good because yuckies can get trapped in awkward spaces and it's nice to know that I can get all the parts super clean. But on the other hand it definitely takes longer to clean than my old glass lidded cooker. Bottom line: if you don't mind the extra cleaning and get it on sale, I'd recommend this cooker. It's worked for over a year and still going strong.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: does any steam/water escape out the lid and make a mess on the counter?

    2 Answers
    • A: The steam/water comes out of a hole on the lid. The hole is not on the edge of the lid, it's offset so that excess water collects in a hollow under the handle. When you open the unit, the water runs off into a removable collection container below the hinge. The container and hinge are a bit of a pain to clean so I just wipe the water from the hollow on the lid before I open the unit. I have not noticed any significant mess on the counter except where I forgot to wipe the lid before opening. And even then it's just a few dribbles - most gets collected in the little container.
