Could be better power supply

Thinkware really didn't think on a few items. But then again, it has the best and most secure windshield mount compared to other manufacturers. The power cord should be a USB type connection or have an option for USB like other manufacturers.. now I have to run the entire wires with the fuses and through the dash to hide the wires. If this had a USB connector, then most modern cars can accept them with ease and hide the wires easier.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Video quality on the same level as brands half the price. Mine made a horrible, constant noise on the recordings. I sent a video to tech support and was told that they could barely hear it (basically tough luck is what they said) will be returning asap.( Side note) I love Canadian tire and hold no grudge towards them.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Exactly what I was looking for! Image isn't amazing but price is great and quality is still good enough to use as evidence if needed.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 4 of 4 Questions

Q: How long does the rechargeable battery last

1 Answer
  • A: There is no rechargeable battery in any of the Thinkware dash cams. The supercapacitor provides a power reservoir of just enough time to finish and store an image when the power is interrupted in an accident.

Q: Does this work when the car is parked and shut off? If yes, for how long?

1 Answer
  • A: It only works when the car is shut off if the customer has bought a hard wiring cable and has it installed to the fuse box (professional installation recommended). Once installed, customer get full parking mode with motion and impact detection. It won’t drain the battery because the dash cam has a programmable built-in voltage meter that will turn off the dash cam if the voltage level goes below the defined threshold.

Q: Does this do motion sensing or does it record for one continuous hour then loop around?

1 Answer
  • A: When driving and the dash cam is in continuous recording mode, it will save in 1 min segments until the memory card is full. Once full, the dash cam auto-loops and starts overwriting on top of the oldest files. Footage triggered by the impact detector gets saved in the incident folder and can be protected from overwriting.

Q: How long is the recording time with the 8 gb card

1 Answer
  • A: It will record for approximately one hour on an 8 GB card. It then loops back and starts recording from the beginning of the card, erasing the original recording. It will loop like this forever.
