Store customer service

Worst experience ever that I had with the fort St. John store. They gave me a non working bike that I left at the store and don’t pick up and they refuse to change or refund and we stuck there with no clue what is going to happen! I left a complain at the online customer service and no one get back to me yet! I am so disappointed!

Handle bars loose

Handle bars were not tight. This almost cost me a severe accident. I had to take it to a bike shop to verify everything was in proper working condition which cost me more money. I am not impressed with the integrity of service.

Supercycle Solaris Hybrid Bike, 700 C

The store attendant that sold us the bike said that we would have to pay for the bike before they would put one together. There were none on the rack. If we didn't want it we could get a refund. Then told that someone would put one together for us right away - we could return it within 30 days if we didn't want it; there was nowhere to ride it at the store. We brought it back within 24 hours - it was not comfortable - only to be told by store manager that all sales are final; they would not take it back. No consideration for our perspective at all... We should have read fine print on receipt. Who would do that when the sales person says bring it back? Lesson learned... Not a great experience....

Avoid Canadian Tire bikes, period

Absolutely horrible product, Canadian Tire bikes are not even worth getting as a budget bike. A month into owning, the gear shift broke and now cannot stay in gear. Feel ripped off

Questions

1 - 10 of 10 Questions

Q: Can the brakes be changed at a later date to disc on this frame ?

4 Answers
  • A: If the frame is not designed for disc brakes it generally is not a good idea to use them as disc brakes put stress on frames differently than the old rim squeezing brakes.

Q: Gear shift information How do you know what gear shift you should be in - there are so many possibilities and no information provided.

3 Answers
  • A: It's pretty simple, you should pay attention to how hard it is for you to pedal when you go let's say uphill, if you're running out of steam, you should switch to lower gear, say 3, 2 or even one. On a flat terrain or downhill you should go for higher gear, say 4,5 or 6 depending how strong you are. In general, no matter where you ride the bike, if you find hard to pedal, or feel tired, switch to lower gear, if you feel strong, go for the higher gear. In the beginning until you get the hang of it, keep the chain on the front gear in the middle and use the back gears only. There are plenty of speeds in the rear gear to find the 'sweet spot' that will work for you, whether you go up, downhill or on flat terrain. Once you get the hang of it, you can start to experiment with the front gear in different positions. However, beware of cross chain, meaning having the chain on front gear all the way to the right and on the back gear all the way to the left as it could damage your bike. There are great videos or YouTube, just google how to switch bike gears and you'll find plenty of good advice. BTY, this is a great bike, it may need a professional tune up, but it's worth it.

Q: I want to raise my bike saddle,is it the seat post bolt that I loosen,do i use a pair of pliers.

2 Answers
  • A: To raise the seat you need to undo the bolt located near the frame. Best tool is a half inch socket on one side of the bolt and a half inch wrench on the nut. Loosen until you can adjust the seat. Then tighten back up. Make sure this is tight or else your seat will slide down when you go to sit on it.

Q: What is the wheel size (diameter in inches)? What is the weight of the bike (excluding packaging or accessories)? I am 5'4" and wish to find out if it will suit me.

1 Answer
  • A: This bike has a 700C x 35C wheel size and weighs approximately 37.5 lbs. The frame size is 18". We would suggest speaking to the Department Manager of your local Canadian Tire store to find the bicycle that best suits your needs.

Q: What is the weight of this bike?

1 Answer
  • A: I'd say it was around 45-50lbs, but maybe lighter if you remove the basket. I'm 5'4" with a small build and I found it very difficult to maneuver the weight of this bike up a short flight of stairs.
