Cheaply made; expected better from this brand

While the concept of this pitting tool is good, it is cheaply made. I followed the instructions and did not press hard when pitting cherries. The plastic cherry holder part broke after the second try. Very disappointed.

Broken on day one :(

Not sure why they made it for so many if its not actually able to handle it I tried it out because I wanted it to be faster but the first day of pitting for jam it was broken. Im actually hoping I can still return it fingers crossed it hasn't been too long !

Q: Why would this not work on olives? Would they be too small?

A: I don't think the size is as much of an issue as the shape. Cherries and pits are round, while olives are oblong, with long pits. The cherries sit in a round holder, with holes underneath, and the pits are pushed through those round holes with the metal pitter. I don't think the olives would stand upright, and you could break the plastic insert if the metal pitting pieces don't hit the olive in the right place. At the very least, I think it would be time-consuming and frustrating. But it is great with cherries!
