I have had this vac for a few years and looking for a 2nd for my business. My house is under renovation and to pick up the dust I used the garden hose to spray down the concreate then vacuumed up the water. Worked great and didn't have to empty the water from the bin! I ran it for 8 hours straight with no problem. some people have reviewed the unit at one star because it picks up water faster that it pumps. Duh! look as the inlet size compared to the garden hose outlet. if you need a pump get a pump not a vacuum! This unit works great if you use it as intended!

Good wet dry vacuum

I've had this wet/dry vacuum a few weeks now. Haven't used it for anything wet yet. It's light weight, has good suction. It has been great for help keep my wood shop cleaner and less dusty.

Not as it appears

1) The "Tested" video doesn't even test the wet/pump feature of the vacuum :(
2) The biggest fault is the "clamps" that hold the lid to the base. Almost every time I pick it up, the clamps let go and the base falls to the ground :(

A: Wow, this question is 7 years old and unanswered? I will try anyway: Yes, you connect your hose to the outlet and also install a "pickup" inside the tank and the pump starts automatically when water levels are high enough in the tank. I was surprised how simple this is but that is all there is to it. The pump will work while sucking up water so you never have to stop... It will empty a hot tub - there is a video attached to the product information.

A: No, this vac does not blow, it pumps water if the pickup is installed and the water level is high enough in the bucket.

Q: does this model have auto shut off when tank is full?

A: It does have a "float valve if tank fills or if the unit tips over, but it will not shut off it just plugs the inlet. The unit should not be left unattended.

A: Yes you can, this is a pump vac. You attach a garden hose (not included) to the rear of the vac and it will pump the liquid from the tank through the garden hose. If you have any further questions please contact Shop-Vac customer service at 905-335-9730.

Q: Does this model (Shop Vac 85P450) have the blower feature? The specs on your web site state the 85P450 model has blower function, but the one I bought doesn't.
