Muriatic acid cleaner works well but be cautious

When carefully following instructions, this "mild" acidic cleansing liquid really does an excellent job of removing smoke and creosote etc stains from fireplace stone. Caution needs to be taken in general (mask, gloves, etc.) but also in covering the areas that you don't want etched. The muriatic acid may seep under a loosely taped plastic sheet and this will leave etch lines into the surface that will be difficult and time consuming to sand away.

Q: I'm interested to clean the excess motor off the brick face. Will this solution harm or stain pressure treated decking? Our deck runs right against the brickwork.

    • A: Muriatic acid will not affect wood. It will react with lime based stone like marble, concrete cement, and ferrous metals (Steel and iron) not aluminum or much else. Don't breath the fumes too much.

Q: I washed my old battery which caused rust like stains on my new concrete driveway. I tried clr but didnot work . will this remove the stains. also will it damage the driveway ? thanksi

    1 Answer
    • A: Ro-Tyme Muriatic Acid is effective for removing rust-like stains from concrete surfaces. However, it should be used with caution as it is a strong acid. To avoid damaging the driveway, follow these steps: 1. Dilute the muriatic acid according to the instructions on the label. 2. Perform a patch test on a small, inconspicuous area of the driveway to ensure it does not cause any damage. 3. Apply the diluted solution to the stained area and let it sit for a few minutes. 4. Scrub the area gently with a brush, then rinse thoroughly with water. Please wear appropriate protective gear, such as gloves and goggles, and to follow all safety instructions provided with the product.

    1 Answer
    • A: The Muriatic acid can remove the shine from porcelain tiles, giving them a matte finish. However, be cautious and test a small area first to ensure it achieves the desired result without causing damage. Always use proper safety gear and work in a well-ventilated area. If unsure, consider seeking professional advice.
