Very sturdy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This seems like an awesome train barrel (but unfortunately I received it when it was turning to winter in WI and haven't gotten to properly test it out yet). I can tell is seems super sturdy and durable - it is definitely made out of high quality materials. I can't wait to collect rain in the spring!

Q: do mosquitos (or other bugs) breed in this product? If I were to purchase this product and put it in my yard to collect rainwater, would I have to monitor it or actively perform any tasks to ensure that it doesn't become a breeding ground for mosquitos or other pests. Thanks. Steve

A: The screen the covers the hole keeps the bugs out, as well as draining the barrell. As long as your screen is in good shape and is left on, the bugs shouldn't get to it.

Q: Can i open the screen part of the top to feed a pump in and host out? This is to fix continuous sump runoff issues so I need to be able to put a pool pump in there to get the water uphill

A: put a few drops of dish soap in your barrel - i won't harm your plants (even food), but, will prevent mosquitoes from breeding in the water. or, keep some gold fish in the tank to eat all the larvae

A: If you are referring to the part the spigot screws into, it cannot be replaced. We do not sell that part. It is part of the molding process.
