Quantum Reax Spinning Combo

Like many others on here I purchased this combo on sale. I've had it for a couple years now and have used it several times. I mostly cast a hook and worm or hook and minnow with a small split shot, or use a jig, also with a minnow or worm. I've pulled in lots of Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, and Pike along with various other species caught while fishing for the above. I've caught numerous 3+ pound Smallmouth, and lots of 2+ pound Walleye and this combo has handled them all well. The drag is smooth, reeling is smooth, and the bail has never given me any trouble. I do use high quality fishing line. The rod seems well built and is perfect for the fish I am looking for (1-5 pound bass and Walleye). It is sensitive enough that I can feel my minnow pulling on my hook, and strong enough that I can pull in some nice fat Smallmouth (best fight per pound fish I've ever caught). While in use I can't really tell a lot of difference between this and some of my more expensive gear. My "expensive" gear costs about 5X as much as this, but I can honestly say it doesn't perform much better. I have fished with people who spent more on their rods and reels than I did my boat, and can honestly say they didn't out-fish me. In summary: I believe this combo will provide good performance, long lasting, and trouble free good times for most fishermen and women. Those who won't be satisfied with this inexpensive setup aren't likely reading this review.

Not a bad entry level setup for small trout. Only worth it if its on a good sale though. The rod snapped when reeling in a 2 lb pink. It really wasn't under much pressure so I was pretty surprised it broke. I now only buy graphite rods where if you look closely it looks like a coiled spring. This isn't one of those. I replaced the rod with a quantum solo I also got on sale and it's MUCH better. The reel has actually held up pretty well. After two seasons its still smooth, instant anti reverse, and the drags not bad. The line lay on the reel isn't great but for the price and application it gets the job done and is an enjoyable reel. Honestly for the price I paid the reel was a good deal and the rod was free ;) I believe the combo is covered for a year so I could've gotten a rod replacement but the rod I replaced it with was way better so I couldn't be bothered dealing with it. If I was in the market for an inexpensive trout setup I would buy another one.

Quantum Reax Spinning Combo is a decent Rod and Reel Combo. I have bought 2 years ago and another one this year. Both are still going strong mostly used for Walleye Fishing
