Easy for first chainsaw
I bought this chainsaw three years ago and have used it on ash, walnut, locust and some soft woods. Cut down a 10" tree and completely cut it up in a few hours. I have cut through some 12" pieces but I would not recommend it. I had read about the oil use for this chainsaw so I have been using canola oil since day one. Apparently canola oil is made from the same plant that was used as a metal lubricant in the past and it is inexpensive compared to bar oil. However, you will have to disassemble the bar to clean it out at the end of the day and I always turn the bar so it wears evenly. I always use a 12AWG 50' cord but a 10AWG would be better. When there is no electricity around I bring a charged up group 26 battery with a 2000 Watt pure sine wave inverter (do not use a modified sine wave inverter). The battery is a pain to lug around but at the very least I have power and I do not yet have the need for a gas chainsaw.
Yes, I recommend this product.

scie electrique 13.5 amp poulan
I only do occasional work, and I love that this is so easy to use. No gas or mess. When I need it, it is very reliable, easy to adjust, and quick. I like the safety stop mechanisms.
For the occasional branch, or even tree, its fine.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Works well for small cutting jobs
Being a bit put off by the noise of gas chainsaws, I bought this small sixteen inch electric for cutting branches and small trees. It works well, its fast and accurate and useful for home use.
The only problem that I've noticed is that sawdust sticks inside the chain saw housing. Oil clogs there and sawdust sticks to it. So it needs to be cleaned each time its used.
Yes, I recommend this product.

WARNING DO NOT BUY THIS CHAINSAW

Plastic gear broke after one use. Company doesn't have the replacement part so you can't order it. Buy another chainsaw. Poulan uses cheap parts.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: How many amps?
Horse power can be calculated in different ways and is more of a marketing term than a useful measurement of this tool's engine. How many amps is this saw?

A: While we are at it and your being so concerned with HP and amps. Let get it straight Engine is gas, diesel etc. Moter is electric just to get things straight as you are asking a question concerning specifics so let us be that. It is clear now and yes I know it is old post but get it right if asking this type of question please.

Q: chain bar play
I just bought this chainsaw. I found that the chain bar seems to have a bit of play in it. I took it apart to see if something came loose, but didn't find anything. Has anyone else experienced this situation?

A: In addition, there should be almost no play with the bar. This product carries a one year warranty, so please return it to your local Canadian Tire store to be repaired free of charge if you believe there is movement in the bar. You can also call the manufacturer’s toll-free number at 1-800-554-6723 to talk to a customer service representative about this product.

Q: work load
I have 7 cord of wood to cut, most of which is small, 4-7 inches. and medium, 8-12 inches, the logs are all 8ft long, will this electric saw do the job?

A: cut a 40ft maple with at least 8- 12" dia limbs and each of those had multiple 4-6" dia limbs. Cut them all into 16 logs and the chain is still sharp. Make sure you have plenty of oil on hand and keep the machine filled.

Q: Does anyone know how many watts this chain saw requires ?
2 Answers
A: Not sure the exact watts, but since it's a big motor at 3.5 HP I 'd your running around 1500 watts. Should have a dedicated electrical line with a GFCI outlet. Runs great off a 2000 watt or higher gas generator

Q: Why does the saw not come with oil
This saw requires oil but the saw does not come with oil nor does the box mention that you should be sure to buy oil. The manual says SAE 30 oil is compatible but their preference is for Poulan oil.

A: I wish would have seen this before purchasing and going round trip to pick up some oil. Should be a big red sticker on the box that says buy chain an bar oil.
