    Not the best purchase

It stopped working because of electronics part after 3.5 years of exploitation for the family of two persons. I was expecting that this cooktop will work longer.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Only thing I use...

Ever since I got the NuWave PIC, my stove top has turned into extra counter space; all I ever use is the PIC for my cooking. Doesn't heat the kitchen up, no more worries of oil catching fire, no more burning wooden spoons or kitchen towels for touching the "burner", it is just a great product to have. Plus the money you will save from the low energy is uses will pay for itself in no time. The best investment I ever made. For the longest time I have wanted an induction cook top, but they are not cheap, this is a perfect solution.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Extremely useful

We had a house fire and were using a 2 burner tippy ringed electric unit. My husband saw this and we have been very happy, using it every day along with the microwave and toaster oven. I like that I can set the temperature and it doesn't heat,,cool, heat cool like the normal electric range. I have used it for a wide range from omelets, frying, boiling water to just keeping food warm on the lowest setting. It is very study and we have even now considered an induction range for the new kitchen.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Love It

We bought one of these in the USA a while back. We love it. Had we known CT was going to carry them we'd have waited, if for no other reason than to have a Canadian warranty. The TV offer is horrible, as when one adds the shipping (more than the cost of the unit) plus ridiculously high additional shipping for the 'free' second unit and more still for the free cookware, the price is hundreds of dollars. Moreover, people have complained about their customer service. The CT price is fair, and they stand behind their stuff. We paid about the same, but got a little frying pan with it as a free bonus. If this cooker ever goes on sale at CT I'll buy one or two more. Now, as for this unit goes, we spent a lot of time comparing it to other induction cookers. This one is only 1300-Watts (about average), vs. some that are 1800-Watts. We don't find this to be a problem, but if you are going to do large quantities of soup or such you may find it a bit slow. For small things, such as eggs or omelettes it is blazingly fast to heat up and cool down...just like cooking on a gas range...perfect! One thing that sets this unit apart from the competition is the thermostat. It has a thermostat just under the top. When one sets a given temperature, it overshoots quite a bit, but then settles back to the selected temperature and stays there. Great feature. No more burnt pancakes. Another thing this unit has, that the others don’t, is fine control over the temperature. Most have six or eight settings. So does this, but it also has a +/- function that steps the temperature in 10-degree increments. We use this all the time. This makes it ideal for deep frying, as you can set it so that the oil is hot but does not burn and then save it to use over and over. The lowest settable temperature on this unit is really low. This makes it perfect for fondues. You can melt chocolate on a medium temperature, then dial it back to 100 to keep it warm without burning it. Competing units only go down to a simmer or a low boil. The highest temperature (called sear) is blazing hot. If you leave a good multi-clad pot on it too long, especially empty or nearly so, you can damage it. But if you put a cast pan with ridges on it you'll get perfect sear marks on your steak nearly instantly. Big problem for this unit, and all competing induction units, if you have older and mostly aluminium pots and pans...they won't work. Luckily, CT often has compatible cookware on sale. We mostly just use a frying pan. To test your pans, if a magnet will stick to the bottom of them, then chances are they will work just fine. Older multi-clad units often don't work, but the newer ones nearly all do. Manufacturers of cookware have a little icon on the package that indicates induction cooker compatibility...look carefully at the box before buying a pot or pan for this cooker. Another down-side is the noise. There is a cooling fan in it. It makes less noise than our microwave oven...maybe about the same as a hair dryer on low speed. Some people find this bothersome...we don't. Most competing units also have fans. This thing is bigger than you'd think from the photo, about the diameter of a large frying pan. But, like most others, it only heats in the middle. So, cheap, thin cookware will at first be hot only in the middle. Decent cookware, with a thick bottom or heavy cast iron, will heat more or less evenly.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Canning Could I use this induction burner for a 7 pint water bath canner?

    • A: Is your water bath canner magnetic? If it is the regular bluecoated pot then the induction does not work with that type of finish.

Q: Will this work with any pots/pans or do I need ones specifically for induction?

    • A: We tested all our regular pots before going out to buy new. Many of the Paderno pans were magnetic and work fine. Test your current pans first

Dommage !

Q: Will Canadian Tire be selling the newer Nuwave PIC2 or PIC Pro? The PIC2 has more safety features and a longer programming time. The PIC Pro has higher wattage (1800 versus 1300) and a slightly larger heating surface. The Pro heats much faster than the PIC or the PIC2. Thank you
