    Great unit

I mounted this unit in my bass boat, the water proof feature is great. I had left my master switch on over night and killed my main starting battery, I plugged this unit in and within 10" able to start my 200 HP engine. Works great.

    Great Product !!!

I purchased this Charger after researching for a bit. Not for the waterproof feature which is great may i add but because of its ability to maintain my batteries through a series of tests. I am actually using it at my Summer home to ensure my Off Grid battery bank is maintained when Wind and Solar is not favorable and my Generator is being used. I use a WIFI connection to monitor the state of my batteries and get notified when they are low. It has been great keeping my 10 batteries charged as they are setup as a parallel series. I would recommend this product

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Excellent Onboard Battery Charger

I researched Onboard Battery Chargers for a month before pulling the trigger. This model is rated as one of the best on the market. I did need to extend the battery leads to reach my trolling motor batteries. To make the deal sweeter it was on sale for $75.00 off plus I got a $50.00 Canadian Tire Gift Card with the purchase. It doesn't get much better....

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Great charger!

This charger is very well thought through. While many other chargers have a 3 stage charge cycle ending in a float charge, this one is able to turn off and maintain the battery when it drops under 13.8V. This results in a gentle "massage" of the battery, which will increase its lifetime. The charger can be left connected and on indefinitely. It also allows the charger to be used as a "house power" unit in a boat. It is highly desirable to have the 10A backup power from shore for the bilge pump in case of a leak. It is also wonderful to have power in the boat while moored and still be sure the battery is totally full when going back out at sea. The charger is waterproof and so efficient in its power use that it will not get hot at all. Really - it is the best I have found out there.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 10 of 15 Questions

Q: can i run the charger while running the vehicle or do i have to unplug or turn it off

    1 Answer
    • A: Hello For safety we always recommend disconnect the charger while a vehicle is in operation. Thank yo,

Q: Do I need to disconnect my present charging system? My boat has 3 of these batteries in two banks. My present charging system is comprised of a Freedom 20 Charger Inverter with a Xantrex and Link 2000 remote. Can I just add a Genius 3 or will this backfeed into my present Freedom/Xantrex system?

    1 Answer
    • A: NOCO does not recommend utilizing different charging systems on batteries at the same time. Different systems are likely to read batteries a bit differently and certainly not provide the exact same charging profile that could then confuse one or both systems and cause them to not charge properly.

Q: I only need to charge 2 batteries in my truck, will this unit work even if I don't use all 3 chargers?

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes, it will. You simply leave the 3rd set of leads unconnected. You might also consider the NOCO GEN Mini 2 (11-1938). It is designed specifically for 2 batteries/banks, is a smaller size and costs less. It is 4 amps per bank (versus 10 amps per bank on the GEN 3) but 4 amps should be more than sufficient to keep your truck batteries charged.

Q: Should I attach separate leads to each of two batteries in parallel or only to one of them?

    1 Answer
    • A: NOCO recommends connecting leads directly to each 12 volt battery regardless of how any additional batteries are connected to it.

Q: Can I lengthen the leads to the battery? The battery is 8 feet away from the charger location. Can I add two feet of wire to the leads?

    1 Answer
    • A: You may lengthen the lead up to an additional 10ft. The cable can only be extended out from beyond the inline fuse (ie: the inline fuse cannot be moved/modified).

Q: Can this charger handle different size and type batteries at once? Is the charger able to differentiate between wet cell and the deep cycle gel cell batteries to charge them at their correct voltages?

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes. Of course, hooked up each to their own independent banks, not in a string.

Q: Battery Banks. Would this unit be suitable for a bank of AGM Batteries [N 10-3196-2 100 amp hrs] Running 1000 watt inverters [11-1892-4] or would the Smart Battery Charger 11-1930-4 be a better choice?

    1 Answer
    • A: At 10A per bank, this unit would certainly be the better choice for such large (high capacity) batteries. If you’re as okay charging these batteries as a bank, an alternative to consider, which might provide added versatility (i.e. charging features) would be the NOCO Genius G26000 (11-1929).

Q: Can I charge two batteries that are hooked in series for a 24 volt system with out unhooking them.

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes you can leave the two 12-volt batteries connected in series (24V) while hooking each 12-volt bank of the charger to each 12-volt battery.
