Purchased in mid 2018 and used 3-4 times during off season charging. This off season 2020, it doesn't work. I noticed there is a 5 yr exchange at Canadian Tire so I plan to do that today. Had they not had the exchange, I would not have given a 4 star.

Really like the size of the charger, power and cable ends come out of the charger solid, so no wear, tear or kinking. Works for me when cold, warm or in between, in dampness or any weather as it can tuck it in car bonnet and not worry. I also had it recover a couple of older batteries, not all but some with sulfated issues

Ran well for 18months - winter temperature drop and it quit

I purchased this as I no longer use my car enough to keep the battery charged. It worked very well for 18 months and then Jan 2019 a drop in temperature it quit on me - so I was very disappointed it really is not compatible for Canadian winters. I noted the manual did not refer to any temperatures below zero so contacted Noco via e-mail when purchasing product and they said it was compatible???? Noted C.Tire has note on on-line product saying Tested for life in Canada. So no I would not recommend for a Canadian Winter Environment.

A: The G1100 does not have an internal battery that gets charged. It must be plugged into AC power at all times in order to charge or maintain the battery it is connected to.

Q: When this unit is not plugged in there seem to be more of a battery drain than there was before. Is there a spec on what it takes to maintain the genuis G1100.

A: The back current drain on the G1100 is less than 5mA, but the charger will not be working to charge or maintain the battery unless it is plugged into AC power. The G1100 requires 85-130 VAC, 50-60Hz, and will draw a max of 0.25A, or 30W.

Q: How long is the charging cable on these units? I have no room in my garage for my car, I do however have an outlet very close to the garage door that I can use to get a cable outside the garage if its long enough of course.

A: AC cable is 60" and the DC cable with connector is 60". You can purchase the GC004 that is a 10' DC cable extension, and add up to four of them.

A: While the charger is IP65 rated to protect against water and dirt, the extreme heat and/or vibration under your hood could damage the charger. For your intended use, the Genius onboard charger (11-1937) might be a more suitable product.
