Q: You recommend regular replacement of the inflatable bobbin, what is regular (monthly, annually?), where are these available?

1 Answer

A: The replacement criteria for the inflatable bobbin, as per the Halkey Roberts, manufacturer of the inflator device, is every three years or less. Mustang Survival recommends replacement on a yearly basis. These replacement bobbins are found at Marine & Sporting good stores, throughout North America.

Q: If this PFD is left out in the rain will it automatically inflate? How about if it should accidentally get droped in the lake?

A: The MD2017 Mustang Survival Automatic Inflatable PFD will deploy if there is water contact to the inflator mechanism. This is usually by immersion in water, as it is designed for boating wear, and should not be affected by rain or spray while being worn boating. There is a protective cover over the inflator system, to deflect any water contact while top side. However, If the unit is dropped in the lake it will deploy and also if it is subject to water contact, such as left in the rain, so as to allow water to migrate to the Inflator system, then it will indeed deploy, and inflate.

A: The MiT Mustang Automatic Inflatable PFD can be inflated manually by pulling on the Yellow Toggle located on the right side base of the unit. Giving the Yellow Toggle a Sharp Tug, it will deploy the C0-2 cartridge and inflate the PFD device.
