The Kidde Multi-Gas Alarm is a versatile plug-in device that detects carbon monoxide, propane, and natural gas, featuring battery backup and a digital display for added convenience. This easy-to-install unit offers reliable protection against the dangers of these gases, making it suitable for all living areas. Q: Will this detect gasoline?

A: Don't know. Product is designed to detect PROPANE or NATURAL GAS. I wouldn't count on it detecting gasoline before you have a bigger problem with liquid gasoline spilled somewhere.

Q: how do you reset it and stop it from beeping looks like it goes off for no reason and it already cost me $80 for the simple reason that i've called the gas company and got charged for a false alarm. no gas present pay up and shut-up

A: I think it is extremely important to understand the many aerosol product use propane as a propellant. So if you use these products around this unit it is not a false alarm, it is detecting the propellant. If you do not use aerosol product and you still get what you think are false alarms, I would contact your local fire department for advise and testing your location. I have had one of these units for over a year and have not had any false alarm. Never unplug a unit when you think it is giving a false alarm, have it checked out.

Q: Can it be used battery powered only I bought the Garrison carbon monoxide, propane & natural gas alarm to use in my hunting cabin where there is no electricity. I would like to know if I can use this alarm powered only by battery power?

A: No. this alarm has a battery as a back-up in case of power failure only. in the case of a remote cabin without power, what you really need is a battery only powered CO alarm as it is infinitely more dangerous than a gas leak since you will not know that CO is there and propane comes with an odorant that yuo can smell.

A: I can tell you we have multiple sources of heat using propane and a propane oven/stove. This unit didn't detect the 2 gas leaks we had from our furnace and when I tested it by holding it over an unlit burner on the cook stove it still showed "0 ppm" and never beeped once. You could smell the gas across the room. Saw other reviews stating the same issue. FYI it was brand new out of the package, plugged in, and backup battery in place.

Q: Life span I forgot to write the "replace by" date on this device when I first plugged it in. Does this model have a warning beep to indicate when it is at the end of its life span?

A: Sort of. It will start beeping and wearing out. You should replace it after 4 years.

A: I gone through 3 of these. Would get rid of it...all for same thing false reading-and keeps beeping Called Fire department the tested air quality and it was OK determined it was a faulty unit

Q: Can this be used as a sniffer? To hold near joints in pipes fittings to see if there is a leak?

A: No it is not a good tool for that. These alarms will sense out combustible gases and then measure it's lower explosive level (LEL). They will alarm awhen the concentration reaches 25% LEL and only display the word GAS. Any number that appears will refer to carbon monoxide. The unit will also default to carbon monoxide even if both are present.

A: This alarm will sound a “GAS” alarm once any combustible gas reaches 25% of lower explosive level. This is designed for households only and not as an active device outside a house.
