Replacement battery for RV

I purchased it to replace a failing battery purchased at Battery Expert barely 4 years ago which was replacing the original RV battery purchased in 2013. The Nautilus battery has been working very well since it's purchase in August. I ordered it on-line while travelling and picked it up 3 days later. Time will tell if it's a long lasting battery.

Q: I am using an Eliminator Precision Series smart charger and it only charges the battery to 12.65 volts. Am I using the right charger?

  • A: I have a 2018 and a 2019 version of these batteries and I have always used my charger on the AGM setting and I have always used Smart chargers and 40 watt solar panels with charge controllers. I only store them indoors in the winter. They used to charge to a slightly higher voltage. I never bring them down past 12.3 volts. I still like them because they handle the cooler temperatures a bit better and they accept more of the charge off of my 40 volt panels but I suspect that they are losing capacity faster than I expected. They both have under 50 cycles.

Q: I have 3 of these connected in parallel with #4awg cables.  I run 12 guage wires to a 12v outlet panel.  Fully charged they show 12v on my panel. I connect a 12v koolatron cooler the voltage drops to 11.5.

  • A: Ok that makes sense on the wire size.  Panel is 10 feet from batteries.

Q: Can this be used for a 30ft tow behind trailer?

  • A: Absolutely. The only requirement is the battery holder/bracket must accept this size battery. If not it is an easy fix/conversion

Q: 1976 Dodge B200 Tradesman camper motor home. Q: I am very interested on the design of the battery. The specs say the battery is no liquid and can be mounted upside down if you wish. Is this true, no sulfuric acid is used for the electrolyte?

3 Answers
  • A: That is what I understand but haven't tried it out upside down or sideways. This question should be answered by the manufacturer.

  • A: Hello, We would recommend a 12-volt Smart (microprocessor-controlled) charger with a charging current of 5 to 15A as they are better suited for charging and maintaining AGM batteries

Q: would these batteries 4 in parallel work good for golf carts?

2 Answers
  • A: I'm no expert, but I don't see why not. I can tell you they are very heavy and four would add a lot of weight to your cart.
