2023 update
Man, oh man.. I’ve used a lot of chargers. I even bought the updated version only to have it stolen. Anyway…
This thing has provided me a decade of dependable service. I ended up learning that even when applying 12 v to the posts under the hood., most of my cars have built in multi stage chargers lol so I’m basically just powering that. It’s great for that. Responds relatively quick almost as if it was a power supply.
Example; if I am trying to charge the battery after a short drive and doing some mild obd scan or flashing a single module, 15a is juuuust enough, at 14.7v to allow it to work. It’ll taper down to say.. 5a with key on and fuel pump primed, etc. after 3-4min so I can scan or do whatever, then once I’m ready to flash it’ll ramp up to 15a in 1-3sec and stay there.
It’ll fully charge a 110ah battery in roughly c-10hrs. It’s hard to say how much capacity these huge things really have as some 90ah batteries have longer “reserve capacity” than my larger 110-140ah ones.
Anyway.. 5-8 hrs for a 50% discharg battery at 10a for 80ah and lower, or 15a and 8-10hrs to charge an h7-h8 or h9 truck battery or bmw battery. It’s similar to the Schneider electric version with the same size. I’m yet to verify if it’s the same but it’s tested by intertek.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Cheap garbage

Failed after occasional and extremely light usage at the 2 year mark. Was trickle charging a garden tractor battery at 2A current.
Disassembled to troubleshoot and found blown power transistor and fuse. Printed circuit soldering was clearly done by unskilled labour. Very poor...

15.0 volts?? Boils batteries dry
I’ve had this for three years.
It is a capable charger but not “automatic” by any means...
It will hang in its “acceptance” phase indefinitely at 15 volts (while displaying 14.8) displaying 90% charge.
Works fine for bulk charging at 2/10/15 amps, regulating the voltage to put out the selected amps, but you can’t walk away from it or leave it overnight and expect it to transition into “float” mode.
15 volts is simply too high for an “acceptance” voltage and will quickly boil off a flooded battery, and will damage a maintenance-free, AGM, or Gell battery.
There are much better options for the money.

Q: F05 error on 6v golf cart batteries
I'm getting this error after charging for a while on a set of 6v golf cart batteries wired in series this bit going into maintenance. What could this be?

A: This seems to be a flaw with this charger, it goes from charging to F05 on several different units I have exchanged under warranty so I gave up and ignored it. Unplug, disconnect battery and charge again, if it says 90% then that is about all you can get from this charger, you will need a battery tester to know for certain how full the charge really is.

Q: Nautilus Charger, is connected to a standard vehicle, battery, the indicator goes from "Full' to "00" never to "Maintence"

A: The charger will not indicate "Maintence" on the display because of the limited display window. If it is "Full", your battery is fully charged already, if you still want to charge it , just reset it.

Q: charging a 12v-79 amp hour gel lead battery
if I put this on at 10 amp hour setting
will it damage the battery ?
2 Answers
A: It shouldn't. 10 amps isn't a whole lot more that what a 160 watt solar panel would produce. The best result would to charge the battery on the smart charge. It takes longer (say 4 hours) but it does it right and safely. Note: The Smart charge mode may automatically go higher than 10 amps. You can watch the LCD display to see where it at in the charge. Try not to discharge your battery more than 60 percent. That way it takes less time to recharge.

Q: How to physically select the charging rate?
In the copy, it says..
Select 15A express charge or 10A fast charge to quickly charge large batteries, or select 2A trickle charge for regular charging
I wasn't aware I could physically select the charging rate. Didn't see any buttons.

A: Depnding your battery size. If it's a small one for ATV, Sled, Motorcycle, etc, use 2amp cycle. For a car battery or marine deep discharge, use a 5 amp for best result. A higher amp is good only when you are in hurry to charge your battery. Low amps will extend your batterie's life.

A: Your charger need to have the reconditioning mode. Otherwise you can't do anything.
