Did not work for me at all

I was really hoping that this inverter would work with the solar setup I got from Canadian Tire. Sadly, it emitted a high pitched sound and would not handle a 10W load (two LED bulbs). Even more sadly, I had it sitting in the house for over a year before trying it out. I've always had great experiences with MotoMaster products and didn't see the need to test it before the warrantee ran out. Now i'm stuck with a non-functioning inverter. At least the cables might come of some use with the new inverter I bought.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Fire hazard

I was using the product using only 750 watts when I heard a pop sound and bad smoke started billowing of of unit having to pull over in traffic and made everyone get out. Over a week later and I still have a bad smell in car of burnt plastic and electrics. The staff at my local store was great help.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

Q: can you take two of these inverters and use one for each phase of your house bonding the commons?

5 Answers
  • A: No, because the phase will not match properly between the two inverters. Connecing the neutrals together probably won't damage the inverter, but unless the hots are perfectly 180 degrees out of phase with each other, you're not going to meet with any success.

Q: Can i use the cigarette lighter or 12V plug on this unit to power up an appliance continually in the car? the specs on teh appliance i need to constantly run while driving the car is: 120 V 60 hz 6.0 amps and is rated 590 watts

  • A: Would not recommend it. Need big thick wires to carry the amperage. It should be directly wired to your battery. Talk to a car stereo installer.

Q: Will the 1500 inverter run a Tasimo T-55 coffee maker

2 Answers
  • A: No, it will not, while the inverter is rated 1500w, thats 1500w combined for each plug, it actually only puts out 1000w per plug, so this coffee maker will overload the inverter, i actually had the exact same setup in my RV last year and ended up having to buy a different inverter because this one could not run the coffee maker. (i was running off 4 golf cart batteries, lots of battery power, the inverter went in to overload protection)

Q: buzzer I just bought the 1500w inverter. When I plug it, even with no load, I hear a buzzer, not the louder one of the low battery volatge, but a small buzzer with about 2 beep each second. The voltage of the battery is about 12,5 volt.

  • A: Sounds like your battery is weak. A battery in good health should be 12.8 or higher. Might need another battery with more power.
