Not very intelligent for an intelligent charger
3 years ago
Quite stupid actually...if your battery dies (the reason you get a battery charger in the first place) this charger refuses to charge it.
It says in the manual that if the battery has less than 1.5v (which can easily happen if you get a parasitic draw), you need to replace the battery. Only, if you put it on a regular charger, the basic charger will charge the battery just fine.
I have to get myself a "stupid" charger so this "intelligent" charger will charge my battery.
I've done this a number of times with a number of batteries....charge it with a regular charger and it charges fine....battery holds said charge fine if there's no draw on it.
This "intelligent" charger works ok if it's able to manifest a charge in the first place but any off the shelf charger will do that. This charger is completely useless if you have a drained battery.
No, I do not recommend this product.

ce chargeur fait très bien la job ! Charge très bien
I haven't used this as extensively as some other users. Have noticed people complaining about the charger burning up 6v batteries, it does not have a 6v mode. So explains the issues some people are having.. That is my only complaint with the charger, it is only a 12v charger. I would recommend spending a bit more if you need to charge both 6v and 12v batteries. If its just going to be used for cars its pretty good for the price.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Engine start feature
If you press this button, it will only put out the amount of amperage (up to 75) that the loads will accept -- correct? Or does it 'force out' 75 amps?

A: The manual states it will start charging at 25 amps, and jump to 75 when it detects the draw on the battery (engaging the starter) for 5 seconds, then go to cooldown mode for 3 minutes. During cooldown, it will continue to charge at 25 amps. So, if the first crank doesn't get it going, (badly flooded maybe?) You will need to wait 3 minutes to try again.

Q: Will this charger boost batteries that have a very low voltage?
I have the 12/8/2A model with no 75A engine start function and I couldn't use it to charge my battery until I jump-started the my car with another car because the voltage was too low. I want to know if this is also the case for this 75/25/4A model

A: I had a similar experience as you. I left the interior lights on over the weekend and the battery was down to 1v on Monday morning. I couldn't get any accessory light or anything to power on so I assumed the battery was completely dead. This charger (75/25/4a) would not recognize the battery either. As a last resort, I hooked up jumper cables from a 2nd car and after about 5 minutes of jumper connection without starting either car, my vehicle showed signs of life. I removed the cables and plugged in the charger and after about 10hrs the battery was charged to about 10v.

. expected alternator output voltage can vary depending on alternator model ..

A: F01 means

Possible cause: a) The battery is defective.
b) A load may be connected to the battery.
Solution: a) Replace the battery.
b) DO NOT use the battery during charging!
Darn, I have just learned the last solution lol
