Garbage after 2 yrs no support

I have tools that are 30 years old with no issue, makita, dewalt, delta. This saw the laser stopped working after two weeks. Last week the safety cover fell apart while cutting and essentially exploded. Didn't get any shards in my eyes because I had my safety glasses on. Canadian tire won't replace or fix after one year. Mine is 2yrs. Last time I buy their top brand.

No, I do not recommend this product.

GARBAGE!!!

Don't buy. Part of the fence broke off only a year and a half later. The fence isn't even square leaving you with crooked cuts. Maximum sounds really good with their lifetime warranty except they only honor it with select tools. This saw only comes with a 1 year warranty.

No, I do not recommend this product.

IT'S AN OKAY DIY WARRIOR SAW

Took a chance on this 12 inch dual bevel sliding miter saw, and although I can't say I regret buying it, I sort of have a 'meh' feeling about it, now that I have been using it for over a year on various weekends. After a while, I noticed that my 90 degree cuts were just a hair off, on 14 inch planks. So I looked into the manual, and read that the fence could be adjusted and fine tuned. However, it was impossible for me to untighten the 4 hex bolts that hold the fence in place. I used the proper metric key, and ended up rounding and ruining the hex heads on each bolt. So I guess I'll just have to live with the saw not being perfectly square. The laser was off by a 3/16" of an inch, but I was able to adjust it to be right on my pencil mark line, so at least that was easy to do. So if being 'bang on' on every cut is really important to you, I would suggest you look at a more expensive contractor saw, but for most DIY'er's, this saw is strong, and cut relatively "meh" well. It's an ok miter saw, IF you buy it on sale, but definitely not worth the full retail price.

MAXIMUM 12" Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw

Un-boxed this saw today and did a basic setup on it. There are some simple but practical design features built into this saw. It has excellent adjustable side supports, with handy stops for repeatable cuts on smaller pieces. It has a compact rail design, that allows the saw to take up much less room than competitor saws, but will still cut a full 13" board, on 90 degree cuts. The saw has a nicely placed carrying handle on top of the frame. Very positive detents, simple controls for adjusting cut angles, and bevels. It has a laser, none too sure how useful that will be, but it functioned good when testing and adjustment was simple, and seemed accurate. The only complaint I have, is there is a safety button on the left side of the on/off switch, which must be depressed to turn the saw on. This is switch would be problematic if the saw had to be operated with your left hand. I will have to figure out a way to deactivate this switch.

Yes, I recommend this product.

So far, so good.

Everyone is commenting on the packaging so I will too. The box was beat up. A lot. Even had a fist sized hole in one side. Opened the box and was surprised there was no damage to the saw at all. Assembly takes less than 5 minutes.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: How is the dust collection on this saw?

1 Answer
  • A: Customers can use a vac to collect the dust, it can be adapted to fit most shop vacs. It will fit shop vac's with the 2 1/2" hose and requires an adapter for 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" hose size units. Most home centers will have the adapter, it is not provided with this unit. Otherwise, there is a dust bag that comes with the product.
